Time to Press Play on Event #48: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2025 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.
Today sees the start of Event #42: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
This three-day event gets underway at noon local time, with late registration open for nine levels (approx. 7:40 p.m.). There will be 20-minute breaks every three levels, with a 60-minute dinner break at the end of Level 9 (~6:40 p.m.). Players are permitted two reentries.
The starting stack is 20,000 chips, with the plan for Day 1 to play 17 40-minute levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 12 p.m. on Saturday, with the level duration increasing to 60 minutes. A winner will be crowned on Day 3.
Last summer, it took three days for Chris Vitch to take home the lion’s share of the $1,946,560 prize pool. He conquered the massive field of 2,212 entries, earning $262,734 for his hard work as he denied runner-up Thomas Taylor his third bracelet.
“It’s a strange day,” Vitch explained at the time as the date of his win marked two years since his mom passed. “It feels kind of incredible that it worked out that I won a random tournament on this day.”
