Negreanu Gets Two Streets of Value

Chance Kornuth opened to 40,000 in the hijack and Daniel Negreanu flat-called on the button. Jason Koon reraised to 220,000 in the big blind and both Kornuth and Negreanu called.

The flop fell J♣6♣2♣ and the action checked to Negreanu who bet 175,000. Koon quickly folded but Kornuth stuck around for the 5♦ on the turn. Kornuth checked again and Negreanu tossed in a bet of 250,000. Kornuth still called and the 8♦ landed on the river. Both players tapped the table and Kornuth showed 9♠9♣. Negreanu flipped over his A♠J♠ for a pair of jacks and was awarded the pot.

Maue check-raised all in and Ding gave it some thought before holding to hang on to his remaining stack of around 900,000.

The flop fell 8♥6♠2♥ and the action checked to Kabrhel who bet 150,000. Boivin quickly folded and Foxen check-raised to 375,000. Kabrhel called and the 4♥ rolled off on the turn. Foxen checked again and Kabrhel announced all in, forcing Foxen to quickly lay his hand down.

Maue checked to Ponakovs who continued with a bet of 118,000. Maue check-raised to 300,000 and Ponakovs quickly slung his cards into the muck.

Decarolis continued for 75,000 on the flop of K♣4♦4♠ and only Kornuth called. Decarolis then bet 130,000 on the 2♦ turn and Kornuth called.

Decarolis checked on the 3♣ river and Kornuth tossed out a bet of 480,000. Decarolis called and mucked as Kornuth showed 6♥4♥ for trips.

Leon Sturm raised to 36,000 in the cutoff and Brandon Steven three-bet to 114,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Sturm called to go heads-up to a flop of 10♠2♠2♥.

Sturm checked to Steven who slid in a bet of 100,000 and Sturm called. The turn brought the 5♦ and Sturm checked again. Steven pushed out a chunk of T100,000 chips , putting Sturm to the test for his remaining stack of just over 500,000. Sturm thought for 30 seconds but then reluctantly laid his hand down.

Jeremy Ausmus and Aram Oganyan were heads-up in a pot with the board reading K♣K♦6♥Q♣. Ausmus tossed in a bet of 125,000 from the cutoff and Oganyan called from the big blind.

The river was the Q♦ and Oganyan led out with a small bet of 43,000. Ausmus gave it some thought and then looked him up. Oganyan tabled 7♦6♦ for a counterfeit two pair while Ausmus showed J♥10♥ for just jack-high which got a reaction from the table.

The turn was the 3♥ and Boivin fired out another bet of 160,000. Kenney still called and the A♣ completed the board. Boivin used a time bank and went for a block bet of 100,000. Kenney flicked in a chip to call and Boivin showed A♠Q♠ for the nut flush much to the demise of Kenney.

After just claiming a victim not long ago, Chance Kornuth was building a healthy stack deep into Day 1. In a heads-up pot with Isaac Haxton, a completed board of Q♣10♠3♥10♣6♥ was spread across the table with a little over 300,000 in the pot.

Kornuth led out from the big blind with an overbet of 555,000. Haxton gave it some thought for a minute and then flicked in a chip to call. Kornuth tabled J♥9♥ for a missed straight draw while Haxton showed AxQx for the best hand.
