Stacked Field Returns for Day 2 of $250,000 Super High Roller

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

In the largest buy-in event of the summer, there was no shortage of eyes on Event #46: $250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold'em throughout the opening day inside the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. A total of 46 entries were recorded through the first eight levels, with 38 players advancing to Day 2 in hopes of claiming the prestigious World Series of Poker gold bracelet.

Among those returning to the felt for the second day of competition is fan-favorite Daniel Negreanu (1,345,000) and his newfound friend Martin Kabrhel (4,265,000). Both players sauntered into their seats midway through Day 1 but their chip stacks happened to go in opposite directions. Kabrhel managed to climb his way to nearly three starting stacks quickly, good enough for the lead, while Negreanu will be returning with just slightly less than a starting stack.

Either way, both players grabbed the attention of the fans looking on from the closest rail outside of the tournament area. Negreanu even got a round of applause thanks to the encouragement of his new bestie after what Kabrhel said was an, "Incredible bluff." With such a small field, there is a good chance they will be bumping elbows at some point today, and it is to be determined what mood Negreanu will show up in.

Vieira just recently picked up his fourth WSOP title in the $100,000 High Roller, while Tollerene and Haxton both have final table appearances in the recent high roller events.

The action is slated to get underway at 12 p.m. local time with an additional two levels of late registration still available. The players will be coming back to Level 9 with the blinds at 15,000/30,000 and a 30,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 60 minutes throughout the day with a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 14. A total of 10 levels are on the schedule for Day 2, with a hard stop when just six players remain.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day. Stay tuned to find out who will put themselves in prime position for the final table in this Super High Roller.

Badziakouski Keeps Firing, Table Already on Edge

Level 9 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Leon Sturm opened to 60,000 from under the gun and Mikita Badziakouski three-bet to 165,000 in the cutoff. Sturm called and they went heads-up to a flop of A107.

Sturm checked to Badziakouski who continued with a bet of 200,000 which Sturm called. The turn was the 5 and Sturm checked again. Badziakouski counted out a bet of 500,000 and Sturm dumped his cards into the muck.

With Martin Kabrhel seated right behind this table and already in a very chipper mood this morning, the table started complaining about the noise within just a few minutes.

"Can you guys do anything about him talking?" Orpen Kisacikoglu asked the floor.

"At least something about the noise level?" Chance Kornuth also pleaded.
