Roh and Irrinki Lead into Final Day of Battle of the Ages

Level 35 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

When Day 2 of Event #59: $1,000 Battle of the Ages got started at 2 p.m. at the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, 461 players sat down with dollar signs in their eyes. To be more specific, $335,390 in dollar signs, the top score from the $2,705,120 prize pool. More than 12 hours later, only eight hopefuls remain and are bagging up chips. They will return at 4 p.m. Tuesday for the streamed final table of this first-ever event at the 2025 World Series of Poker.

Play began with two separate starting flights: Day 1a was the entry point for the greatest generation, while Day 1b was open to anyone who had not yet reached the 50-year mark. Today the survivors of the two flights were mixed together, and going into Day 3, it is the youngsters who out-number the elders, seven-to-one.

it’s impossible to count out the lone remaining elder at this final table, as despite being the only over-50 left, WSOP bracelet winner Joseph Roh sits atop the leaderboard by quite some way, with a huge stack of 17,375,000.

Srivinay Irrinki
Srivinay Irrinki

Srivinay Irrinki finds himself second in the standings going into the final day, as he racked up an incredibly impressive 14,850,000 chips, spurred on by rivering a full house in the final hand of the night. Jack Maskill is another youngster who will believe that he can take the whole thing down, as he comes back to 7,350,000 chips, and will undoubtedly be applying pressure on that final table.

Another player at this final table to keep an eye on is Allan Le, who holds two WSOP bracelets. His first came back in 2016 in the $1,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo tournament, and he just added a second earlier in this series in Event #43: $1,500 Razz. A win in this event would be his first no-limit hold'em bracelet.

The final eight have outlasted some serious players, with Joao Simao, Ryan Riess, Jamie Dale and Kane Kalas unable to make it through the day, as well as Shawn Buchanan departing shortly before the day’s end.

This unique format is sure to bring more action on the final day, as players adapt their strategies for a second day running, with an average stack of just 15 big blinds. Not only are the ages mixed, but they’re battling it out for some huge scores, with contenders such as Hakeem Mashal, and Xia Wang already having locked up a career-high cash. Despite this, they’ll be hungry for more, as a six-figure payout looms in the not-so-distant future.

Players will return to the Horseshoe Events Center for the final table, where the Battle of the Ages winner will be crowned. Day 3 will begin at 4 p.m. and will be streamed by PokerGO on a one-hour delay, starting at 5 p.m. PDT picking up on Level 35, with 3:48 remaining at 250,000/500,000 blinds with a 500,000 big blind ante.

Stay tuned as PokerNews brings you all of the action throughout the final table, from cards in the air to the bracelet being awarded.

Action folded to Gary Friedlander in the cutoff, and he raised to 1,000,000. The action then folded to Joseph Roh in the small blind, who put in a three-bet to 2,600,000. Friedlander called, and the players went to a flop.

The dealer revealed a flop of A47, which prompted Roh to continue betting, this time for 1,500,000. Friedlander responded by moving all in, which Roh swiftly called.

Joseph Roh: AK

Friedlander was at risk and in need of help.

The turn A gave him some opportunities to split the pot, but the river 9 sealed his fate.

As he received applause from the growing rail, he headed towards the exit.

Wei Chen moved his last 850,000 in from under the gun and Sebastiaan de Jonge called in the big blind.

Wei Chen: 98 All in
Sebastiaan de Jonge: A7

"I have live cards," said Chen, and he found one of them on the 1079 flop to take the lead. A 2 on the turn put him one step closer to survival, but the 7 on the river gave De Jonge trips, which meant Chen hit the rail.

Joseph Roh raised to 700,000 on the button, and without too much thought, Gregory Pearson shoved from the big blind. Roh snapped him off, but was far behind.

Gregory Pearson: AQ All in
Joseph Roh: KQ

Pearson went home in the most brutal manner possible, as he was three-outed on the river of 9739K just missing out on a pay jump, and catapulting Roh into the table's chip lead.

Level 33 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Matthieu Rodriguez
Matthieu Rodriguez

The feature table only managed to play two hands in the space of ten minutes, but still managed to result in the elimination of Matthieu Rodriguez.

First, Srivinay Irrinki opened from the button and took down the pot. In the next hand, Irrinki raised the cutoff to 600,000 and Rodriguez shoved from the big blind for around 4,500,000. After just a few seconds, Irrinki called.

Matthieu Rodriguez: A3 All in
Srivinay Irrinki: AK

Irrinki was best and stayed ahead through the QQ4 flop. Rodriguez was hoping for an unlikely scoop, but the K on the turn meant he was drawing dead. A meaningless 4 hit the river, and Rodriguez headed to the exit.

Jeremy Becker
Jeremy Becker

Action was joined with a large majority of Jeremy Becker's 815,000 stack already in the middle, with a little left behind in consideration of the pay jumps. Xia Wang was the only other player in the pot.

The flop came KJQ, and Becker moved his remaining chips into the middle, only to be met with a snap call.

Jeremy Becker: A3 All in
Xia Wang: A10

Wang had flopped Broadway and was a long way ahead. Becker called for the ten of diamonds, but the turn came down the 9 instead.

The river A was no help to Becker, who said his goodbye and stepped away from the feature table.

A double knockout just saw both Simon Kaiser and Ruoxiao Shi hit the rail.

First, Shi shoved from the small blind for 1,850,000 and Allan Le called in the big blind with 1,840,000.

Allan Le: A9 All in
Ruoxiao Shi: 95

Shi was dominated and despite flopping a gutshot on 6K7, he couldn't catch up as the runout of 73 kept the ace-high of Le in the lead.

In the very next hand, Shi called for his last 10,000 on the button, Le shoved the small blind, and Kaiser called off his stack of around 2,500,000 from the big blind.

Ruoxiao Shi: Q5 All in
Simon Kaiser: AJ All in
Allan Le: J10

Kaiser was poised to score a big double-up, but the 8106 flop had other ideas as Le took the lead. An 8 on the turn put Shi and Kaiser one step closer to elimination, and the 4 river confirmed it.
