The Pay Jump and More for Mao

Renji Mao opened to 55,000 from the hijack. Aleksandr Shevlyakov in the small three-bet to 150,000, then Mao went into the tank for over five minutes, keeping a close eye on the screen to check for eliminations and the next pay jump. The clock was called and Mao moved all-in for 475,000. Shevlyakov snap-called.

After some raise and three-bet action, Naor Slobodskoy moved all in, and Michael Wang found himself with nearly his entire stack already committed, holding onto just around 60,000 behind. With the pay jump in sight, Wang took a moment before deciding to call, and the cards were turned up.

Wang needed help to overcome Slobodskoy’s queens, but the J♥4♣7♣ flop gave him nothing. The 8♣ on the turn opened up some straight possibilities, but the 4♦ river sealed his fate, and Wang hit the rail.

The action folded around to Niall Farrell in the small blind who jammed all in as the big stack. Ottomar Ladva was in the big blind with 230,000 and called off his stack.

On the next hand, Renan Bruschi moved all in for 175,000 in the cutoff and Farrell re-jammed all in on the button. Lars Kamphues called off his stack of 535,000 in the big blind and all three hands were face up.

A completed board of A♣7♦4♣6♣2♥ was spread across the felt with around 500,000 in the middle already. Thomas Muehloecker had a bet of 400,000 in front of him, more than enough to cover the remaining 150,000 chips in front of Ioannis Angelou Konstas.

Konstas went into the tank for a minute before calling off the last of his chips. Muehloecker turned over A♥Q♦ and that was enough to best the A♦J♥ of Konstas.

Nguyen had Q♣10♣ for a straight draw, and Buhaiov held A♦8♦ for two pair. The 3♦ river sealed the deal and sent Nguyen packing, whilst Buhaiov added to his stack.
