Richard Murphy Eliminated in 12th Place ($22,415)

Level 30 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Richard Murphy
Richard Murphy

Richard Murphy raised to 400,000 from the hijack, and when action got to Damir Stefanic on the button, he moved all in for 3,745,000. Murphy, who had a slightly smaller stack of 3,510,000, made the call.

Richard Murphy: 1010 All in
Damir Stefanic: QQ

The flop 734 kept Stefanic firmly in the lead, and when the dealer delivered the 9 turn, there was a quick scan at the holecards to see who had a diamond. The players soon saw that both had a diamond, which rendered the flush draw irrelevant.

The river 5 didn't provide the miracle Murphy needed, and he departed in 12th place.

Yet again, it folded to Lonny Weitzel in the small blind and he went all in, covering Everett Carlton in the big blind. Carlton made a call with the same had he doubled with earlier.

Lonny Weitzel: KQ All in
Everett Carlton: A9

Weitzel's run good continued as the KQ2 fanned out on the felt.

Carlton's run came to an end a card early as the 8 snapped off, making the 7 a pure formality.

Marcel Luske Eliminated in 10th Place ($28,244)

Level 30 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

The first hand of the unofficial table was a notable one, as Marcel Luske and Lawrence Whyte clashed in an all-in pot preflop. Luske jammed for 2,650,000 and was called by Whyte, who just had him covered with 2,870,000.

Marcel Luske: QQAll in
Lawrence Whyte: KK

Whyte had Luske dominated. Luske hit his queen on the flop, but, unfortunately for him, Whyte also hit his card as it fanned out 10QK. The J created some chop outs, but the 10 river completed the board, which gave both players a full house. Luske was awarded $28,244 for his effort.

Sayegh Triples Last Hand of Night

Level 30 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Zaher Sayegh

Richard Jutte limped under the gun and when it folded to the shortest stack at the table, Zaher Sayegh, he went all in from the small blind.

Wesley Cameron in the big blind raised again to 700,000 and Jutte made the call.

Heads up to a dry side pot, both live players checked the 975 flop.

Cameron led for 300,000 on the Q and Jutte folded.

Zaher Sayegh: 44 All in
Wesley Cameron: AK

Sayegh was thrilled to see he had the best hand and the rail burst into applause when the 6 bricked.

Marcel Luske Falls, Final Table Set for Finale of $1,000 Super Seniors

After 11 hours of play, the curtains have closed on Day 3 of Event #64: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) hosted at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.

The event attracted 3,338 players, creating a prize pool of $2,937,440. Day 3 was the penultimate day and saw 134 players return and battle down to just nine players.

Each of those nine bagged their stack and will return for the fourth and final day, knowing that they are each guaranteed a payout of $35,872. However, they will all have one eye on the $356,494 first-place prize and the 2025 WSOP bracelet that comes with it.

Leading the way is Lonny Weitzel, who will return to play with a stack of 14,725,000, good for 74 big blinds at the start of play. Wietzel logged an impressive shift at the tables, coming into Day 3 in the lower half of the chip counts and spinning up a chipleading stack for Day 4.

Hot on his heels and completing the podium are Martin Kohler (11,075,000) and Richard Frandsen (9,025,000). Both players have already secured a new record live tournament score, but with their Day 4 stacks, they will be daring to dream of six-figure scores and a bracelet.

Day 3 Action

It took over 10 hours for the initial Day 3 field to be reduced to a final table, and there were plenty of notable eliminations along the way.

Players such as Sammy Farha (25th - $14,461), Gary Benson (32nd - $11,757), and Everett Carlton (11th - $28,244) fell just short of a 2025 WSOP final table.

Perhaps the most notable name to miss out on the official final table, though, was poker legend Marcel Luske (10th - $28,244).

Luske entered Day 3 as the tournament chip leader and stayed among the biggest stacks up until his demise.

His presence deep into the tournament also drew attention as onlookers joined the rail to catch a glimpse of the Dutchman. Even one of his tablemates requested a photo once he realized who his opponent was.

In the end, it took a nasty cooler on the unofficial final table to see his run come to an end.

Upon Luske's departure, the remaining players had made the official final table of the event and bagged their chips to return the following day.
