Defending Champ Jonathan Tamayo Wins Lucky Flip for WSOP Main Event Seat

Reigning World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Jonathan Tamayo flipped his way into this year's championship event, meaning he won't even have to put up the $10,000 buy-in to defend his title.

Tamayo announced on Sunday that he won a WSOP Online $160 All-In Flipament, a flip-and-go-style event that puts players all-in blind and that needs 64 players to run, according to Kevin Mathers.

Tamayo demonstrated his luck a year ago when he navigated the largest WSOP Main Event field in history to win $10 million. The longtime poker pro from Texas proved luck is still on his side in 2025.

"I won the 3pm one it seems," Tamayo wrote on X.

The remaining 25 players are going on a 60-minute dinner break. Action should resume around 7:30 p.m. local time.

Levels will increase to 90 minutes once action resumes. The field is three spots away from the money.

John Centeno raised in the small blind and Frank Brannan reraised in the big blind. Centeno called and drew two, while Brannan stood pat.

Brannan bet and Centeno called. Centeno drew one on each of the last two draws, while Brannan continued to stand pat and bet.

Centeno called him down and Brannan showed 8x7x6x4x3x to win the pot.

Monnette drew one and Krela two. Both players checked to the second draw where Monnette stood pat and Krela drew one. Monnette then bet his last chips and Krela called.

Monnette stood pat with 9x8x5x4x2x, while Krela turned over 8x4x3x2x and drew one. He caught a pair of threes on his last card and Monnette doubled up.

Both players took one and checked the second draw. They each drew one again on the last draw and Yockey bet.

Negreanu tanked for a moment before calling as Yockey turned over 10x8x6x5x3x. "My hand was a little too good," Negreanu said as he mucked.

Heads-up on the second draw, Jon Shoreman bet from the button and John Centeno raised in the cutoff. Shoreman called and drew one, while Centeno stood pat.

Centeno then bet. "I caught absolutely perfect. I can beat a seven. No, I can beat an eight," Shoreman said before correcting himself. He called and Centeno showed 7x6x5x4x2x to win the pot.

"I can beat a seven. Stronger words have never been spoken," tablemate Scott Bohlman said.

Negreanu drew two, Bohlman drew one and Centeno stood pat. It checked to Centeno who bet. Negreanu folded and Bohlman called.

Bohlman drew one and Centeno stood pat. Both players checked. Bohlman flashed a Kx but Centeno won with 10x7x5x4x3x

"You had a seven?" Negreanu asked from the other end of the table. "I had three of them!"

Johansson stood pat and Schreiber drew one. Both players checked and Johansson showed an 8-6 as Schreiber mucked.

Action was ahead of the third and final draw in a pot between Brian Tate and Andrew Kelsall.

Tate had put Kelsall all in, with Kelsall calling. Tate had stood pat and Kelsall was contemplating his decision.

"Give me 30 seconds guys," said Kelsall before eventually drawing one.

"Number two," said Tate showing 7x6x4x3x2x

Kelsall was drawing to a wheel with 7x5x4x3x but paired his 5x and was eliminated.
