Riess vs Weiss

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

On a flop of 1094, Dennis Weiss had shoved for around 600,000 from the small blind over a bet of 190,000 from Ryan Riess. Riess, who was seated in the hijack, had around 250,000 behind. After getting the clock called on him by another player, Riess made the call.

Ryan Riess: KKJ8 All in
Dennis Weiss: KJ109

Riess had an overpair and a flush draw against the top two pair of Weiss. The 4 turn and 4 river counterfeited Weiss, and Riess doubled up with his Cowboys.

Maheshwary Gets a Welcomed Double Up

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

It was a three-way limped pot going to a flop of KJ8 and Igor Holdaiy tossed in a bet of 50,000 in early position. Jorryt van Hoof called on the button and Shrey Maheshwary came along from the big blind.

The turn was the 6 which turned out to be the action card. Maheshwary started with a check and Holdaiy bet the pot of 270,000. Van Hoof called and Maheshwary check-raised all in for 545,000. That barely opened the door for Holdaiy to reshove all in and Van Hoof was forced to fold.

Maheshwary turned over K842 for two pair and a flush draw while Holdaiy just had AJ72 for a pair and the best flush draw. The river was the 8 and Maheshwary improved to a full house and vaulted up the leaderboard late on Day 2.

Vu Gets One Foot Out the Door

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Bernard Vu raised the pot to 70,000 in middle position and Michael Zulker called from the small blind. The flop came A42 and Zulker checked to Vu who jammed all in for his last 170,000. Zulker gave it some thought and eventually made the call.

Bernard Vu: KQJ7All in
Michael Zulker: AK105

Vu was bluffing with just king-high and started to pack his bags. The 7 on the turn gave Zulker the best flush draw as well and Vu started to walk away thinking that he was drawing dead. However, the Q on the river gave Vu two pair and he had to be called back to the table after scoring a miraculous double-up.

Joao Estanislau
Joao Estanislau

Joao Estanislau made it 70,000 to go from early position with only Isaac Kempton calling from the big blind.

Kempton check-called a bet of 115,000 from Estanislau on the QA6 flop.

Both players checked the 8 turn for the 4 to roll off on the river. Kempton checked, but Estanislau bet 400,000. Kempton quickly folded and forfeited the pot to Estanislau.

Egide Rivers the Nuts; Promises to Take it Down

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Michael Culyer was all-in with a short stack of 34,000 on the 874 and Loren Egide also got it in for a lot more, both of which were looked up by Stefan Lehner. Egide called over the PokerNews live reporting team and promised he would take down the tournament if he were to win this hand.

Michael Culyer: A986 All in
Loren Egide: 101099 All in
Stefan Lehner: A1065

Lehner had flopped the nut straight but would not hold up on the 5 turn and J runout, as Egide improved to the jack-high straight. He then asked for a fine bottle of wine, but there was no waiter in the almost empty Horseshoe Event Center past 1 a.m. local time.

Another Monster Pot for Francort

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Joao Estanislau
Joao Estanislau

Javier Francort raised to 70,000 in middle position and was called by Ray Attiyah on the button and Joao Estanislau in the small blind.

The flop came AK4 and Francort continued with a bet of 100,000. Attiyah was in the tank before the clock was called and he finally realized that the action was on him. Attiyah called and Estanislau check-raised to 400,000. Francort reraised the pot which got Attiyah to fold and Estanislau called off his stack of just over 1,000,000.

Francort turned over KKJJ for a set of kings which was in the lead. The turn and river bricked out for Estanislau who saw his stack disappear in one of the last hands of the night to the tournament chip leader.

Davies Busts on the Last hand

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

From middle position, Roussos Koliakoudakis bet 150,000 on a flop of 89A, with Seth Davies calling from the cutoff.

The 3 appeared on the turn and Koliakoudakis jammed for Davies' remaining 450,000. Davies thought for a few moments before making the call.

Seth Davies: A864 All in
Roussos Koliakoudakis: AJJ5

Davies was ahead with two pair against the top pair and flush draw of Koliakoudakis. The 4 came on the river to give Koliakoudakis the flush, and Davies was out on the last hand of the night.

Late Night Drama on the Devil's Table

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jeffrey Whittinghill
Jeffrey Whittinghill

Phil Hellmuth was eliminated by Alex Foxen and left the tournament area rambling while the action carried on for table 666. The devil's number would bring another dramatic showdown during which Jeffrey Whittinghill and Miltiadis Kyriakides got it in after the 10107 flop with nearly even stack sizes.

Jeffrey Whittinghill: AAQ3 All in
Miltiadis Kyriakides: 10732

Whittinghill was in very rough shape in the final hand of the night and found no help on the 8 turn. However, the river brought the A and Kyriakides shot out of his chair in disgust, mentioning the one word poker players from Greece tend to say after taking a huge bad beat.

Both stacks were counted and Whittinghill doubled for 298,000 before the T-1,000 chips were raced off. Kyriakides lost that chip race, too, and was left with a mere 70,000 for Day 3.
