Yang Backs into a Boat to Survive

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Kai Yang
Kai Yang

Kai Yang started the hand with a limp from the cutoff. Brandon Crawford made the 72,000 from the button, with Erik Nordstrand calling from the small blind, and Yang also calling.

Nordstrand led out for 248,000 on the 5108 flop. Yang committed his last 141,000, and Crawford folded.

Kai Yang: QQ102 All in
Erik Nordstrand: KJ97

Nordstrand flopped a straight against the overpair of Yang. The 8 turn meant only a queen or eight on the river would save Yang. The 8 appeared on the river to give Yang a boat, eights full for queens, keeping him in the tournament.
