Dominguez Flops a Set to Double Through Ahmadi

Level 40 : Blinds 800,000/1,600,000, 1,600,000 ante
Jorge Dominguez
Jorge Dominguez

Four of the first five hands after the break were walks, with Nick Ahmadi taking down the only hand that went to a flop after he check-raised against Nicolas Godard.

Then, Ahmadi raised the button to 3,700,000 and Jorge Dominguez shoved from the small blind for 13,200,000. After giving it a little thought, Ahmadi called.

Jorge Dominguez: 99 All in
Nick Ahmadi: J10

It was a fair fight, but after the 962 flop, Dominguez made a set and took a huge lead, which resulted in a loud roar from his rail. A 2 on the turn locked it up for the Argentinian player as he made a full house, with a meaningless 7 dropping on the river.

Godard Makes the Right Call

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Nicolas Godard completed in the small blind and Ran Kadur checked his option in the big blind.

Godard bet 3,000,000 on the flop of KAJ and Kadur called. Both players then checked on the 9 turn.

Godard checked once more on the 6 river and Kadur bet 5,500,000. Godard gave it some thought and called.

Kadur showed a pair of kings with KQ, but it was no good against the pair of aces of Godard with A10.

Daniel Schill Eliminated in 5th Place ($84,676)

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Nick Ahmadi was putting pressure on the two short stacks to his left, and shoved from the small blind & the button without any pushback.

In the next hand, Ahmadi raised to 2,700,000 in the cutoff and Daniel Schill shoved for around 15,000,000 from the small blind. When it got back to Ahmadi, he called.

Daniel Schill: KJ All in
Nick Ahmadi: 1010

"It's a flip," said Schill to his rail.

Ahmadi was looking to thin the field down by one, and succeeded in his quest as the 8258Q runout kept his pocket tens in the lead, leaving the start-of-day chip leader out in fifth.

Here's What Tax Experts Want Poker Players to Know About Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill'

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante
Poker Tax Bill

Gambling tax experts are warning poker players to be aware of legislation that "could have a major effect on the industry" after Congress passed the Trump administration’s Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA) that, among other things, caps gambling loss deductions at 90% of winnings.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill with a 218-214 vote on Thursday after delaying a vote for several hours the previous night.

“It will negatively affect the recreational player," Ray Kondler of Kondler CPA, a Las Vegas-based CPA firm specializing in gambling taxation, told PokerNewsKeith Becker. "Because in the past, where you could deduct 100% of your losses, now you can deduct 90%. So basically you’re paying income tax on phantom income you might not have ever have made.”

Godard Getting Active

Level 39 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante
Nicolas Godard
Nicolas Godard

Nicolas Godard has been loosening up as of late, resulting in a net increase to his stack.

First, Godard got a steal through and then raise-folded to a shove of around 17,000,000 from Daniel Schill.

Schill then limped from the small blind and Godard checked his option from the big blind.

The flop came 57Q and after Schill check-called a bet of 1,200,000, he folded to another bet of 3,000,000 on the 7 turn from Godard.

Not long after, Godard made it 2,400,000 to go from the button and Nick Ahmadi called in the big blind.

Both tapped the table on the A94 flop and Ahmadi check-called a bet of 2,200,000 on the 2 turn.

When the 8 hit the river, both decided to knuckle it down with Ahmadi showed 97 for a pair of nines. However, Godard had the winner with a pair of aces holding A7.
