2025 World Series of Poker
The final 73 players are on a 15-minute break, and will return to blinds of 100,000/250,000 with a big blind ante of 250,000.
Just prior to the break, Michael Koenig moved all-in from the big blind. Gary Wilkes on the button made the call.
Michael Koenig: J♠6♦
Gary Wilkes: K♣J♣
The runout 10♥7♦8♣5♥A♦ gave Koenig an gutshot straight draw on the flop and an open-ender on the turn, but neither got there.
Honghao Shi raised on the button, and it was enough to cover Frederick Mends' stack in the small blind. Mends called, and the cards were revealed.
Frederick Mends: A♠9♠
Honghao Shi: A♦J♣
The flop was a spicy one, bringing J♠J♦4♠, but the turn A♥ ended most of the suspense, and the Q♥ river eliminated Mends.
According to his tablemates, Shi was down to 300,000 chips not long ago but has won a few all ins consecutively to now wield a large stack.
Vaughn Steeves kicked things off with a raise to around 615,000 in middle position, leaving himself just 5,000 behind. Johannes Deusing in the hijack then went all-in. Ryo Kotake on the button then asked for a count and once the dealer confirmed 1,785,000 for Deusing's stack, he made the call. Steeves put in his last chip, leading to a showdown.
Vaughn Steeves: 3♠3♦
Johannes Deusing: A♦K♦
Ryo Kotake: Q♣Q♦
Kotake was leading with a potential to eliminate two players, but the 5♣K♠A♠ gave Deusing top two pair. The 9♠ turn opened up a potential flush for Steeves, but the 6♥ sealed the deal for Deusing, allowing him to double up and sending Steeves packing.
Malachy Hagan kicked things off with a raise to 1,600,000 from under the gun. Action folded to Carlos Santos in middle position, who quickly went all in. With the action back to Hagan, he made the call, leading to a showdown.
Malachy Hagan: K♥10♥
Carlos Santos: A♥A♣
Hagan needed help from the board, and the 4♠K♠2♦ flop gave him a pair of kings. But it wasn't quite enough and the A♠ turn sealed the deal for Santos, who made a set of aces, and the Q♣ river just confirmed Hagan's elimination.
Eduardo Recarte went all in from middle position. Richard Perie called in the small blind, and Roelof Pepping called in the big blind.
Richard Perie: 3♣3♠
Roelof Pepping: A♥10♦
Eduardo Recarte: A♦6♦
The board came out Q♦J♠5♣2♦5♥, so Perie won the entire pot, and Pepping was eliminated.
Joshua Rothberg shoved all in on the button with 810,000 chips. Holden Filartiga made the call from the big blind.
Joshua Rothberg: A♣7♦
Holden Filartiga: 10♥8♦
With the board running out 10♣J♦4♣8♥8♠ Filartiga risky call paid off with a 10 on the flop, and his hand got better on each street. He ended with a full house for overkill.
