Gargiulo Gains at Moneymaker's Expense

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Chris Moneymaker raised to 600 from the hijack and was called by Joseph Gargiulo in the big blind.

Gargiulo check-called an 800 bet from Moneymaker on the 108J flop and then announed a dark check before the 2 fell on the turn.

"Check dark?" the 2003 Main Event Champ said. "How about... 1,400?" Moneymaker then put in said bet.

"Let's make it 2,800," Gargiulo replied as he stuck in a raise. Moneymaker called.

Gargiulo then announced another dark check before the 8 completed the board.

"Check-raise then check in the dark? That's a new one," Moneymaker said. "Alright, lets see them." Moneymaker then checked behind and Gargiulo showed Q6 for a flush.

"That beats my pair," Moneymaker said as he sent his hand into the muck.

First Bluff of the Day?

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Action was joined with a flop already showing 7J3, and 13,300 in the middle.

Button player Philip Saracino was engaged in an early battle against Troy Quenneville in the big blind.

Quenneville check-called a bet of 4,000 on the flop, before taking over the betting lead to the tune of 6,500 on the 9 turn. Saracino called, and the players moved on to the river.

Quenneville chose to check when the 5 was revealed, which prompted Saracino to put out a bet of 16,000. After some consideration, Quenneville elected to fold and was promptly shown the A by his opponent.
