Rivered Flush Shows Slanina the Exit

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Action was joined with a full board showing KA5QJ and 20,800 already in the middle.

Big blind Michal Slanina, flicked out two red chips, good for a bet of 10,000. Action was then on Pejman Niyati, who had entered the pot from early position. He elected to move all in for 49,500, which covered his opponent's stack.

Slanina made a quick decision, moving the rest of his chips into the middle to signify a call.

It was bad news for Slanina, as he showed his 55 for a flopped set. This was no good, though, as Niyati had rivered a flush with 107, sending his opponent to the rail.

O'Donnell Sends Banerji to the Rail

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

With around 45,000 already in the pot and the board reading K2953, Neehar Banerji was all-in for over 30,000 from the small blind. Matt O'Donnell, on the button, went deep into the tank before eventually making the call.

Banerji tabled A2 for just a pair of deuces, while O'Donnell revealed JJ for a solid pair of jacks. After a brief chip count, Banerji asked, “He had me covered?” The dealer confirmed, and Banerji’s tournament run came to an end as O'Donnell scooped the sizable pot.

Riva Arthur
Riva Arthur

Riva Arthur bet 6,000 from early position on a flop of KQJ and Clayton Thompson raised to 14,000 in the hijack. Arthur called and the 5 fell on the turn.

Thompson then moved all in for 51,000 and Arthur practically beat him into the pot. Thompson turned over J10 for a flush, but Arthur had the nut flush with A2. The river was the 8 and Arthur raked in the massive pot to send Thompson to the rail and her stack past 250,000.

"You finally won a pot. It's been 10 minutes," tablemate DJ Mackinnon joked.

"Finally," Arthur added as she snapped a photo of the board.

Andre Grohnert
Andre Grohnert

Andre Grohnert moved all in for his last 4,100 from the button, and Garry Gates made the call from the small blind, prompting both players to table their hands.

Andre Grohnert: 44All in
Garry Gates: 88

Grohnert needed help to stay alive, but the board ran out 107QK9, offering no lifeline for his pocket fours. The German online qualifier saw his Main Event run come to an end faster than he would have hoped, while Gates continued to build his stack.

Your 15 minutes Are Up

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Dan Stavila
Dan Stavila

Dan Stavila faced a difficult decision.

After he bet 5,500 on the button with the board reading 39566, Alexander Bunin check-raised all in with more chips than Stavila behind.

Stavila went deep into the tank.

Tablemates agree that it was a full 15 minutes. Finally, one of them called for the clock. The tournament director came over and gave Stavila 30 seconds to act.

A mere three seconds before his hand was to be declared dead, Stavila placed his chips on the felt to indicate a call.

Bunin showed him the bad news: 99. He had rivered a full house.

Stavila turned over K2, but the king-high flush he made on the turn wasn't good enough.

A player told Bunin that the wait must have been the greatest 15 minutes of his life.

"Yeah, but don't tell my wife," Bunin said.

Da-Silva check-called Lavine's continuation-bet of 2,500 on the K5Q flop, but he check-folded when Lavine bet 4,500 on the 2 turn.

Jamie Gold
Jamie Gold

Francis Obadun raised to 1,000 in middle position and Jamie Gold three-bet to 3,500 on the button. Obadun called and they saw a flop of 835.

Gold then moved all in for 10,600 and Obadun quickly called. "I guess I'm out," Gold said, standing up from his seat even before the cards were revealed.

Jamie Gold: A5 All in
Francis Obadun: J7

Gold, to his surprise, found himself ahead against Obadun's flush draw, but the A turn gave Obadun his flush. Gold needed to fill up on the river, but he missed the 4 and the 2006 Main Event champion was sent to the rail.
