Seed Beginning to Sprout

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Huck Seed
Huck Seed

Huck Seed opened to 500 from under the gun before Andreas Putz three-bet to 1,600 next to act, and Seed called.

"First pot I raise all day and I get reraised," Seed joked, "We must both have aces."

On the QJ7 flop, Seed check-called a bet of 2,000 from Putz as Seed further commented, "Must be a chop."

Seed checked once more on the 5 turn before Putz placed out a bet of 6,000. Seed took some time before he put in a massive raise to 50,000, almost enough to put Putz all-in, but he laid it down after a short tank.

Owen's Dream Start to the Main Event

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Brad Owen
Brad Owen

On his first hand of the 2025 WSOP Main Event, Brad Owen was still greeting his tablemates when Gary Abrahams raised from early position. Owen, who was still unpacking his belongings, three-bet from the hijack, and when it got back to Abrahams, he four-bet to 6,000. Owen responded with a five-bet to 14,000, which Abrahams called.

The dealer spread a flop of 2104, and Abrahams knuckled the action over to Owen. Owen bet around 8,000, prompting Abrahams to quickly jam around 44,000. Owen snap-called.

Gary Abrahams: KK All in
Brad Owen: AA

It was the ultimate cooler in favor of Owen, who looked poised for a dream start to his Main Event, if he could fade a two-outer on the turn or river.

The Q turn looked scary, but it wasn’t the paint card Abrahams needed. The Q river sealed the double-up for Owen with his bullets and spelled the end of Abrahams’ tournament.

Cheong Fires Three Bullets at Ivey

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Phil Ivey had just taken his seat in the Paris Black section to the direct right of Joseph Cheong, and the two didn't take long before tangling in a pot.

Cheong had three-bet from the cutoff before the flop, before continuing for 3,000 on the 974 flop. Ivey called in the hijack and the K fell on the turn.

Cheong then bet 7,000 and Ivey again called. The river was the A and Cheong fired out 15,000. Ivey quickly folded this time and Cheong took the pot.

Martin Jacobson, the 2014 Main Event champion, has also recently joined this section.

Leonard Leads Twice and Gets Raised Twice

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Patrick Leonard from middle position and John Duci from the button were heads-up to the AQ8 flop as Leonard led out with a bet. Duci then raised to 2,500 and Leonard put in the call.

On the flush-completing 7 turn, Leonard opted to lead again for 1,500 before Duci raised again to 5,500, and Leonard called.

The K river checked through as Duci turned over J10 for the turned flush that was downgraded on the river, but his hand was still good as Leonard mucked and Duci collected the pot.

Anson Tsang
Anson Tsang

Anson Tsang raised to 700 in the hijack. Steven Stanton called in the cutoff, and Draxton Amador did so on the button. Tsang bet 1,000 on the 44J flop, folding out Stanton.

Amador called to the 3 turn, though, where Tsang sized up to 2,600. Amador tossed in another call, after which the J river checked down.

Tsang tabled 42 for fours full of jacks, and a slightly surprised Amador nodded his head and mucked his cards.

David Peters
David Peters

David Peters raised to 500 in the cutoff. Jesse Lonis called on the button before Paul Hong three-bet to 2,600 in the small blind. Peters called, while Lonis quickly got out of the way.

Hong checked the 1096 flop over to Peters, who bet 2,000. Hong called to the 10 turn, which checked through to the J river. Hong checked for a third time. Peters bet 5,000 after a small tank, which Hong quickly called off.

Peters could only show ace-high with A8, which Hong had beat with J9 for jacks and tens.

Jean Autran raised to 600 under the gun. It folded to Scott Bohlman in the big blind, who defended.

The 577 flop checked through to the 10 turn. Bohlman led out for 2,000, a slight over-bet. Autran called to the 5 turn, where Bohlman put in 15,000 for a bet nearly three times the size of the pot.

Autran did not need long before he mucked his cards, surrendering the early pot to Bohlman.
