Grupp Wins a Massive Pot With Aces

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Kyle Grupp
Kyle Grupp

After a preflop raising war between Ben Warrington and Kyle Grupp, all of Warrington's 260,000 or so chips got into the middle with Grupp making the call to try and eliminate him.

Ben Warrington: KxKx All in
Kyle Grupp: AA

Warrington was on the wrong side of a classic preflop cooler and needed to find a king to double-up. The 410J flop was safe for Grupp's bullets. The rest of the board came 7Q, and Grupp won the pot of over half a million, while Warrington was out.

Alexander "Wolfgang" Seibt
Alexander "Wolfgang" Seibt

Christopher Bell opened to 3,500 from under the gun and Alexander "Wolfgang" Seibt moved all in for 26,000 from early position to see action fold back around to Bell who called.

Alexander "Wolfgang" Seibt: QQ All in
Christopher Bell: AQ

The board ran out A6K45 and the ace on the flop was good to hold up for Bell while the poker vlogger was eliminated from the tournament.

Mathis Spinning from a Single Chip

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Marty Mathis
Marty Mathis

Marty Mathis was down to his last 500 chips and was forced all in from the small blind. Arthur Peacock raised from middle position and everyone else folded. Mathis turned over 109 and was up against the 66 of Peacock. A ten on the turn was good enough for Mathis who eventually made a straight on the river to claim the pot.

On the next hand, Peacock made it 3,000 again and Mathis stuck in his stack of 3,000 chips on the button. The rest of the table folded once again.

Marty Mathis: A7All in
Arthur Peacock: A5

The board ran out A104210 and Mathis held the better kicker for another double up to 10,000 chips.

"Ok, let's slow our roll," Mathis said as he took one hand off.

However, following that he was all in again for 10,000 in middle position. Peacock was in the big blind and took a moment to call after some speech play back and forth.

Marty Mathis: A4All in
Arthur Peacock: 87

The flop came AK2 and Mathis took another big lead with a pair of aces. The 6 on the turn left Peacock drawing dead to the Q on the river.

Wigg Spikes the River

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Anton Wigg
Anton Wigg

Anton Wigg made it 3,500 from the cutoff and only Brandon Eisen called from the big blind.

Eisen knuckled the action over to Wigg on the 984 flop, and Wigg bet 5,000. Eisen tossed in the call.

The 2 came on the turn and Eisen checked again. Wigg threw out an overbet of 25,000, which caused Eisen to ponder for a while before making the call.

Eisen checked for the last time on the A river and Wigg immediately checked behind. Eisen tabled 1010 for a pair of tens, but lost the pot to Wigg's A3 for a rivered pair of aces.

Randall Emmett
Randall Emmett

Jake Bazeley raised to 3,500 on the button and Randall Emmett called in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 483 and Emmett check-called a bet of 5,000 from Bazeley.

Both players checked the turn 10 to the river 10 where Emmett led out for 7,500 and Bazeley thought for some time before folding.

"I debated calling with ace-high again," said Bazeley after the hand.

"I was praying you would," replied Emmett.

Zipfel Losing Piles as Cader Doubles

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jason Zipfel
Jason Zipfel

Mounir Tajiou raised to 3,000 in middle position. Adam Cader sat in the next seat and made it 10,000 to go, after which Jason Zipfel four-bet to 20,000. Tajiou let his hand go, but Cader moved all in for 48,000.

Zipfel made a quick call, and the cards were tabled.

Adam Cader: AK All in
Jason Zipfel: AQ

The 5758 board had the table rooting for a chop, but the river fell the 5, securing the win for Cader's Big Slick and doubling him up.

Zipfel, meanwhile, had lost about two-thirds of his former big stack since the start of Level 9, most of which seemed to have ended up in Daniel Martin's possession.

Last Break of the Night

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Main Event Bracelet 2025
Main Event Bracelet 2025

Another level has come and gone on Day 2d and the remaining 2,591 players are going on their last 20-minute break of the night. There will be one more level before the players bag and tag their chips for the night. Here are some highlights from the last two hours:

Kassouf Comes With The Correct Call... After 10 Minutes

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Will Kassouf
Will Kassouf

This hand occurred just before the break.

Sacha Cohen raised from under the gun to 3,000 and in the small blind, Will Kassouf called.

The flop came out 892 and Kassouf checked over to Cohen while engaging in his usual banter. Cohen bet 3,000 and Kassouf called.

Kassouf checked on the turn 7 over to Cohen who sized up to 13,500 and Kassouf called.

On the river 5, Kassouf launched into a verbal spiel.

"Wow such a sick river, flush, straight, everything gets there," Kassouf said "not one we can just check down."

He thought for a little bit before electing to bet 29,500, sending Cohen into the tank.

"Could be bluffing with the best hand if you're thinking this long," Kassouf commented.

Cohen thought for a little bit longer before electing to go all in for 99,500, sending Kassouf into a tank of his own. He launched into a lengthy soliloquy of his own.

"Wow, it's so sick. You've got the nuts and I've got the second nuts. You thought I was bluffing but I was value betting."

Kassouf continued to talk, while trying to get a word from Cohen who remained motionless and silent throughout.

"You've got the ace of hearts, maybe ace-queen of hearts or something."

The table around him all went on break as he continued to talk. After about five minutes into the break and ten minutes after Kassouf initially went into the tank, Cohen called the clock on Kassouf.

"Did you call the clock because you want me to call?" asked Kassouf.

"No, I called the clock because I want a break," replied Cohen.

As the countdown continued as Kassouf began to stack up his chips.

"Well if you got it, you've got it," said Kassouf as he put in his last chips.

Will Kassouf: K8 All in
Sacha Cohen: KJ

Kassouf's second nut flush was good as he soared up the counts in the final hand before break.

Ward Catches Bloch Bluffing

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Miles Ward
Miles Ward

Miles Ward raised to 4,000 in the small blind with the 63 and Peter Bloch defended the big blind holding the K5. The Q93 flop was checked and that led them to the 8 on the turn. Ward now bet 7,000 with his bottom pair and Bloch called.

On the 6 river, there were 24,000 in the middle and Ward bet 20,000. Bloch double-checked his cards and then raised big to 70,000 with his king-high air. Ward shook his head and called after only a few seconds of consideration.
