Stephen Chidwick and Isaac Haxton Neck-and-Neck on Day 5 of 2025 WSOP Main Event

Stephen Chidwick

The $10,000 WSOP Main Event No-Limit Hold'em World Championship at the 2025 World Series of Poker drew the third-largest Main Event field in WSOP history, creating a massive prize pool of $90,535,500. After the bubble burst early on Day 4, only 522 of the 9,735 players bagged up for Day 5, which starts today at noon local time.

Super high roller regulars Stephen Chidwick and Isaac Haxton are among the aspiring World Champions returning to the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, today, looking to add the $10,000,000 top prize that comes with what would be a career-defining WSOP Main Event victory to their already impressive resumes.

Fireworks are sure to ensue on Day 5, as Chidwick, who is second on the all-time money list, and Haxton, who sits in eighth place on the all-time rankings, have been drawn to sit at the same table. With 1,940,000 in chips for Chidwick and 1,915,000 for Haxton, both have just over 95 big blinds to start with today, ensuring some deep-stacked battles between two of the best in the game.

While Chidwick and Haxton return with just under double the average stack, they still only have half of what chip leader Harold Lam bagged on Day 4. Lam leads the field with a stack of 4,195,000, being followed by WSOP Circuit ring winner Jeremy Kottler, who amassed 3,725,000 on Day 4, and Frenchman Julien Mariani, who will bring 3,600,000 chips into Day 5. Meanwhile, Japan's Kohei Arai, Russia's Arsenii Karmatckii, Brazil's Ramon Pessoa, and Mounir Tajiou from Sweden also battled their way into the international top ten.

Many other notables are still in contention, including Josh Reichard, whose ace-high hero-call on Day 4 bubble kickstarted his journey to a stack of 3,025,000; 2016 Main Event finalist Kenny Hallaert (2,805,000); four-time PPC champion Michael Mizrachi (2,270,000); original online phenom Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (1,455,000); 2023 WSOP Europe champion Max Neugebauer (955,000); and WSOP Main Event winners Greg Merson (1,495,000), and Damian Salas (450,000).

While all returning players have guaranteed themselves $32,500 for making it to Day 5, 522 dreams of making the final table of the WSOP Main Event and securing a seven-figure payout are still alive. Another landmark will occur when 89 players remain, at which point each player will be guaranteed to take home at least $100,000.

Day 5 of the 2025 WSOP Main Event will resume with an hour remaining in Level 20: 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. Every following level will be two hours in length, with a break scheduled after each. Day 5 was originally scheduled to play five levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 23, but with Day 4 being cut short due to the lengthy bubble, that is subject to change.

No matter what today's plan turns out to be, PokerNews will be on the floor in the Horseshoe Event Center to provide extensive live coverage of the 2025 WSOP Main Event. Keep your eyes glued to this page for hand histories, chip updates, and other storylines brought to you live from Las Vegas.

Mizrachi Scores Knockout in First Hand Back

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi raised to 40,000 from late position and faced an all-in from Patrik Zidek two seats over for 410,000. Mizrachi called to put Zidek at risk.

Patrik Zidek: JJAll in
Michael Mizrachi: 88

Zidek held a significant lead with a pair of jacks against Mizrachi's eights, but the flop was ominous as it came 7109 to give Mizrachi an open-ended straight draw.

The 6 was a disaster for Zidek, completing Mizrachi's straight, and he was down to just two outs headed to the river.

The A river was not what Zidek needed to survive, and Mizrachi knocked him out of contention.

Arsenii Karmatckii
Arsenii Karmatckii

Min-Sung Lee made it 40,000 under the gun with Arsenii Karmatckii calling from middle position. Joseph Ozimok squeezed to 145,000 from the button, which only Karmatckii called.

Karmatckii checked first on the A58 flop, allowing Ozimok to bet 100,000. After a few moments, Karmatckii called.

The 4 turn got another check from Karmatckii, and another bet by Ozimok, this time for 290,000. Karmatckii deliberated for quite some time before he chose to check-jam for Ozimok's remaining 1,550,000. Ozimok snap-folded, and Karmatckii moved up to over four million in chips.

Jeff Gross

The action folded to Shawn Fagan in the cutoff who ripped all in for around 300,000. Alan Sternberg called on the button and Jeff Gross stuck in the last of his 140,000 chips from the small blind.

Shawn Fagan: QJAll in
Alan Sternberg: A8

The flop came 1097 and Gross was still in the lead but his opponents had plenty of equity. The turn brought the K to give Fagan the nut straight and both of his opponents were left drawing dead to the 7 on the river. Fagan earned nearly a triple up while Gross was sent to the rail early on Day 5.

Veloso Flops Set for Double Knockout

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Raja Chirumamilla
Raja Chirumamilla

It had been a slow start in the Horseshoe Gold section withPokerNews witnessing six consecutive raise-folds.

Finally, there was action at Table 637 as Justin Pechie opened to 50,000 on the button and Raja Chirumamilla three-bet jammed a stack of 450,000 in the small blind. Sergio Veloso then shoved a stack of 1,565,000 from the big blind to put Pechie to a decision.

"There's no way," he said. "Sorry if I'm nitrolling you."

After hearing that, Veloso immediately called the clock, but the dealer told him enough time hadn't passed. Soon after, Pechie called off with a stack of around 1,200,000.

Raja Chirumamilla: 1010 All in
Justin Pechie: AK All in
Sergio Veloso: 99

Veloso took a huge lead as the flop landed 49Q to give him a set. He was far from gracious after the big suckout, clapping his hands and taking a lap as the board finished out AK to earn him a double knockout.

He returned to the table and shook Pechie's hand, but Chirumamilla wasn't in the mood for niceties and headed to the payout counter.

Fan Catches a Miracle to Double Off Snyder

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Chih Wei Fan
Chih Wei Fan

Steven Snyder was on the button with a raise of 125,000 in front of him before Chih Fan reraised to 275,000 in early position. Snyder then put in 475,000 and Fan turned around to look at the tournament clock before moving all in for 985,000. Snyder snap-called.

Chih Fan: AK All in
Steven Snyder: AA

Around 2,000,000 was at stake as Fan found out the bad news when Snyder turned over his two aces. Fan was already standing up from his seat as the K93 flop gave him a glimmer of hope with a pair, while the turn was the 2. Left with just two outs to stay alive, Fan found one on the K river to make trips and earn the massive double up.

"Wow!" Fan yelled out as he stood statue-like in a state of shock with his mouth agape.

"That's PokerStars. Absolutely golden," tablemate Will Kassouf added. Snyder could only shake his head in frustration as he handed over the pot.

Milhomem Cracks Conniff's Bullets

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Asher Conniff
Asher Conniff

Andreas Christoforou opened to 40,000 from under the gun and Murilo Milhomem three-bet to 125,000 from early position. Asher Conniff was in the small blind and ripped in his stack of around 1,600,000, which got Christoforou to fold. Milhomem had 360,000 total and took just a few seconds before he put them all at risk.

Murilo Milhomem: 99 All in
Asher Conniff: AA

Conniff had the rockets and was looking to shoot down Milhomem's Main Event. However, it was Milhomem's pot to lose after he made a set on the 79Q flop to take the lead.

Conniff needed an ace to drag the pot, but none could be seen on the 84 runout, which meant Milhomem survived.
