Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Heads-up to a flop of 635 where David Alvarez led out for 10,000 from the big blind and Eric Wasserson called out of the hijack.

Rodriguez is Steede-ly Building His Stack

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

"Ouch, that hurts," Jacob Steele said as he vaulted out of the chair moments after he was eliminated by Alejandro Rodriguez. Both players still had their cards exposed with the KQ for Steede and the K3 for Rodriguez. They had broadway until the AQJ10 turn but the 7 river gave Rodriguez the winning flush.

Raskin's Hand Determined Dead Preflop

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Usually, the action starts with a player making an aggressive action. In this case, it started when the dealer pitched the cards.

As is customary, the dealer pitched two cards to each player, or so she thought.

When the action folded around to the button, only then did Micah Raskin in the big blind notice that he only had one hole card.

The floor was called to give a ruling. It was determined that due to there being significant action, the hand was not a misdeal, and as such, Raksin's hand was dead.

Armed with this information, Sorin Cristea, on the button, immediately raised to 12,000. The player in the small blind folded, and Cristea took the blinds in unusual circumstances.

Preflop War

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jacob Lowery raised in early position, Simon Prudhomme three-bet to 25,000 in the cutoff, Scott Vener four-bet to 100,000 on the button, and Lowery five-bet shoved for roughly 600,000.

Prudhomme went deep into the tank and decided to fold. Vener also went deep into the tank, and with 103,000 chips behind he made the fold also, and tabled his hand of QQ.

Lowery also showed his cards and tabled AK.

Bullock’s Bold Bet Backfires

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

With just 56,000 behind, Jason Bullock shoved all in from middle position. Kyle Lorenz, sitting in the cutoff, asked for a count and then made the call. The rest of the table got out of the way, and the cards were turned over.

Jason Bullock: QJAll in
Kyle Lorenz: KK

Bullock needed to connect in a big way to stay alive, but the 874 flop offered little hope. The 2 on the turn already sealed his fate. Drawing dead going into the river, Bullock could only watch as his tournament came to an end, with Lorenz’s kings holding firm.

Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth opened to 10,000 from under the gun and Luke Chung three-bet to 30,000 from the button. Kornuth called.

The flop came 949 and Kornuth check-called a 30,000 continuation bet from Chung.

Chung fired a second barrel for 60,000 when checked to on the 6 turn and Kornuth called again.

On the 10 river Kornuth checked and Chung shoved, covering Kornuth who had 116,000 behind. Kornuth called after about a minute of contemplation, showing two pair with 88. Chung had him beat with KK for two pair, kings and nines to end Kornuth's Main Event run.

Ace Not High Enough for Allen

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Vincent Giuliano opened from the button, but things escalated quickly in the blinds. Michael Allen shoved for around 119,000 from the small blind, only to be met with an almost instant re-shove from Gustavo De Lima in the big blind, who had him covered. Giuliano got out of the way, and the two blinds were left to battle it out.

Michael Allen: A3All in
Gustavo De Lima: AQ

It was a rough spot for Allen, dominated by De Lima’s superior ace. The board ran out 798J6, offering no help, and Allen was sent to the rail while De Lima added more chips to his growing stack.

Arbaugh Finds a Double

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Alex Bergfors opened from the cutoff and Brian Arbaugh defended his big blind.

On the AJ4 flop, Bergfors continued for 8,000 before Arbaugh clicked it to 20,000. Bergfors inquired about the size of Arbaugh's remaining stack before he quickly announced all in and Arbaugh snapped it off for 71,000 total.

Brian Arbaugh: 44 All in
Alex Bergfors: A6

Bergfors had paired his ace but Arbaugh flopped bottom set to take a commanding lead. The 5 turn sealed the double for Arbaugh as the Q river changed nothing and Arbaugh dragged some much-needed chips, while Bergfors still retains a very comfortable stack as the largest at the table.
