Yinan Zhou opened to 20,000 from middle position and Gareth Devereux shoved for his last 50,000 on the button. It was folded back to Zhou, who called to put Devereux at risk.
Gareth Devereux: A♠K♥
Yinan Zhou: K♦10♦
Devereux got it in well ahead, but the Q♠J♥2♠ flop gave Devereux a real sweat against Zhou's open-ended straight draw.
The 8♣ turn changed nothing, but the 9♥ river filled Zhou's straight — eliminating Devereux from contention.
Terence Reid kicked the action off from early position with a raise to 20,000. When play folded its way around to Tarmo Tammel in the small blind, he moved all in for 68,000.
Reid requested a count of the all-in stack, and once confirmed, he made the call.
Tarmo Tammel: 10♠10♦
Terence Reid: A♥5♥
The action flop of 7♦10♥J♥ had something for both players. Middle set for Tammel and a flush draw for Reid.
There was immediate service for Reid on the Q♥ turn, and when the board didn't pair on the 2♠ river, Tammel gathered his belongings and headed towards the exit.
Stephane Roux raised to 20,000 in the cutoff. Yakov Albaz made it 60,000 on the button, after which Mathew Moore three-bet all in, covering both opponents.
Roux quickly called off, prompting Albaz to lay down his holding.
Stephane Roux: J♥J♣
Mathew Moore: Q♠10♠
Moore paired his queen on the 3♣6♥K♦Q♥ turn, and the 2♥ river did not bring a jack to save Roux, sending him to the exit.
Xingwei Chen opened from under the gun, and action folded to Qiang Wang on the button, who made it 80,000. Chen didn't hesitate and shoved it all in, putting Wang at risk. He made the call, and the cards went on their backs.
Qiang Wang: 8♠8♦
Xingwei Chen: A♠A♣
Wang needed some help from the board, and the flop and turn gave him a few more outs for a possible straight draw with 5♥6♠J♠7♦. But the river brought the A♥, giving Chen a set and eliminating Wang.
Scott Baumstein raised in early position to 20,000, David Mclaws on his direct left three-bet to 40,000, Norman Shapiro shoved for 127,000 in middle position, Baumstein folded and Mclaws called.
Norman Shapiro: A♣A♦
David Mclaws: 3♦3♠
Great flop for Shapiro as it came 8♥Q♥7♣, but a brutal 3♣ on the turn gave Mclaws a set and sent him well into the lead. Shapiro had two outs but neither of them appeared on the K♥ river and he was eliminated.
Alon Messica open shoved for 100,000 in late position and got called by big blind player, James Charbonneau, putting Messica's tournament life at risk.
Alon Messica: K♣Q♣
James Charbonneau: J♦10♦
The flop came 7♦5♦3♦, immediately giving Charbonneau a flush. Messica, drawing dead, packed his things and bid everyone good luck as the dealer completed the board with Q♠2♣.
Narongsak Dhanjaichon was down to just 90,000 chips and pushed all in from middle position. Javier Etayo flat-called in the hijack and Mauricio Salazar Sanchez reshoved all in from the big blind for around 360,000. Etayo gave it some thought but decided to send his cards into the muck.
The flop came 10♦9♠3♦ and Salazar Sanchez was still holding strong with his pocket aces. The J♥ rolled off on the turn to give Dhanjaichon a set of jacks but it was the A♦ on the river that gave Salazar Sanchez a better set for the elimination.
Hieu Le was in middle position with a raise of 60,000 in front of him before Craig Pollak moved all in for 337,000 on the button. Le called to put him at risk.
Craig Pollak: 7♣7♦
Hieu Le: A♠K♣
Pollak remained in the lead with his sevens on the 2♥9♦10♣ flop, while the Q♦ turn gave Le a straight draw to go with his overcards. Le spiked the J♦ on the river to make his straight and send Pollak to the rail.
At the same time at another table, Christopher Demaci and Samuel Butters saw the turn on a board of 3♣J♥8♣9♥ with around 300,000 in the pot. Demaci then moved all in.
"You're a PLO player, right?" Butters asked as he went into the tank while considering the decision for his last 500,000.
While Butters was pondering making the call, Alex Bergfors told his tablemates how he wants to be remembered. "If that asteroid hits tomorrow, I want to be right here bluffing off my stack. And if the bluff gets through, I'll say let's go. A million years from now they'll discover a fossil and say, 'there is the guy who got the last bluff in at the 2025 World Series of Poker," Bergfors said.
Meanwhile, Butters eventually folded and Demaci took down the pot without a showdown.
