Early Position Raise Turns Into Battle of the Blinds

Noel Rodriguez raised from the hijack to 13,000, Abhishek Paul called from the small blind, and Anthony Piacquadio called from the big blind. The flop arrived with K♠6♦9♣, and Piacquadio led out for 22,000 after Paul checked. Rodriguez folded, and Paul called.

Both players checked the turn 4♥ and the river 2♦. Paul tabled Q♦10♦ and Piacquadio tabled K♦J♣ for top pair and the win.

Congya Zhang raised from early position to 12,000, and Muhammad Rahim flat called from the small blind. Alex Keating in the big blind then three-bet to 56,000.

Zhang went into the tank before she pushed out a four-bet to 102,000. Rahim got out of the way, and Keating called.

The flop came K♣J♦7♥, Keating checked to Zhang, who didn't slow down and threw out a bet of 55,000. Keating thought for a while before he released his hand, and the pot was pushed to Zhang with no showdown.

This hand was played to the song "Everytime We Touch" by Cascada, with the lyrics altered to fit the poker theme by Duncan Horst at the table.

Ran Ilani was under the gun, and the players called the clock after some time. Ilani moved all in for 61,000. As the game approaches the bubble, players are slowing down.

Jose Barbosa made the call from the hijack, and everyone else folded.

Conor O'Rourke jammed for his final 13,000 from under the gun before Ben Fan in the next seat over opted to play for more by raising to 30,000. Paulo Villena Gini came along with a call to head to a flop with O'Rourke at risk for the main pot.

The flop came 5♦7♣8♣, which led to a bet of 33,000 from Fan. Villena Gini folded as Fan and O'Rourke went to a runout.

The J♦ turn upgraded Fan to a set, but it did give O'Rourke a sliver of hope with a straight draw.

The 4♦ river did not help O'Rourke as he exited the tournament.

Wagner Ripper began with an open under the gun for 16,000. It folded to Dohyeok Kim on the button, who chose to call. Anthony Ruberto came along from the big blind to send them to a flop three-handed.

The flop came 3♥10♠Q♠, which led to checks from Ruberto and Ripper. Kim chose to fire 16,000 and was met with a call from Ruberto and a fold from Ripper.

Both remaining players checked the 5♠ turn.

The 7♥ river led to another check from Ruberto, but Kim chose to bet 57,000. Ruberto thought for some time before he put out a call.

Kim showed Q♣J♥, which was good enough as Ruberto mucked his hand.
