Oochi Leaves Mermelstein on Fumes

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The action picked up on the board of 39QA with approximately over 8,000 already in the middle.

Aaron Mermelstein checked from early position before James Rice bet 3,500 from the hijack. Masahiro Oochi chose to raise to 10,000 in response.

Mermelstein opted to jam for roughly 48,000 when it got back to him. Rice did not take long to fold, but Oochi took some time to make his decision. Oochi opted to call and put himself at risk for 46,700.

Masahiro Oochi: AQAll in
Aaron Mermelstein: A9

Both players showed two pair, but it was Oochi with the better of it. The 7 river did not change either player's holding to award Oochi the double and leave Mermelstein hanging by a thread.

Stephen Song

Stephen Song raised to 1,100 from early position and was called by Tamer Kamel in middle position, Vito Branciforte in the cutoff, and Paulino Dias on the button.

The dealer fanned a 247 flop. Action checked to Branciforte, who bet 3,000. Dias folded, and Song then raised to 8,500. Kamel folded, and Branciforte called.

Both players checked the 8 turn and 9 river. Song tabled 77, good for a set of sevens and the winning hand.

Is Big-Stacked Rigby Headed for Another Deep WSOP Main Event Run?

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Nicholas Rigby
Nicholas Rigby

It wouldn't be Day 3 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event if Nicholas Rigby didn't have a big stack.

The Pittsburgh poker player had over 140 big blinds at the first break on Tuesday afternoon. He's no stranger to spinning up a stack in the $10,000 buy-in World Championship event, and he's doing it the same way he's done it in the past — playing any two cards aggressively.

McCoy Cracks Aces

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Jeffrey Hong opened to 1,500 from the hijack, and Manuel Ruivo made the call on his left. Benjamin McCoy then three-bet to 6,000 on the button before James Tsou four-bet to 17,500 in the small blind.

Hong and Ruivo got out of the way, and McCoy moved all in for 28,900. Tsou called instantly, and the cards were turned up.

Benjamin McCoy: JJ All in
James Tsou: AA

McCoy slid his bounty chip forward before spiking a set on the 53J flop. Tsou could not find an ace or a heart on the rest of the 7Q runout, as McCoy survived and doubled up.

Value for Roberts

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Daniel Maor opened from middle position to 1,300 and was raised by Christian Roberts to 4,000 from the hijack. Maor called to send the two to a flop.

Both players checked the J910 flop.

The 4 turn saw Maor bet 3,500 before Roberts opted to call.

Maor slowed down on the 6 river before Roberts chose to bet 10,000. Maor gave it some thought before he called. Roberts showed A10. The middle pair was good as Maor threw his hand into the muck.

Hasson Takes Bounty

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

From the small blind, Alexander Zubov bet 24,000 chips to a full board of 32A65, keeping behind a small number of chips.

Dinesh Alt, from the hijack, raised enough to put Zubov all in were he to make the call. He chose to pass.

A few hands later, Zubov's chips were in play, all in with four other players, who were all in for Alt's 1,200 under-the-gun raise.

After a flop of 237, Alt bet 3,000 chips. Gary Hasson went all in from the button and only Alt called.

Alexander Zubov: Q10All in
Gary Hasson: 103All in
Dinesh Alt: A8

The turn and river 25 didn't bring any hand better than Hasson's pair of threes, giving him the pot and the bounty.
