Find Out Why Shaun Deeb Gives Away All of His WSOP Gold Bracelets

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

There’s no denying that Shaun Deeb is a future Poker Hall of Famer. Whether you know him from his online poker days, where he won more than a dozen COOP titles on PokerStars, or as the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the Year, Deeb has amassed nearly $13 million in live tournament earnings dating back to 2006 according to The Hendon Mob.

Deeb, who in February 2024 accepted a buyout in his $1 million body fat loss prop bet against Bill Perkins, is also a six-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, but did you know that just like Phil Hellmuth, he’s made a habit of gifting them to those close to him?

PokerNews recently chatted with Deeb about why he gives away his bracelets, which ones he’d keep if he were to win them, and why giving away No. 6 to honor his good friend, the late Thayer Rasmussen, meant so much to him.

It's Always Coming Seven in the $777 Buy-in Lucky 7's Event, Starting at 10 a.m.

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2025 World Series of Poker, bringing you live updates from every bracelet event.

We’re in seventh heaven today as Event #90: $777 Lucky 7’S No-Limit Hold'em (7-Handed) gets underway here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. This is a three-day event, with three starting days, where the top prize is, you guessed it, $777,777.

Day 1a action kicks off at 10 a.m. local time, with players starting with 40,000 chips. On all three Day 1s, they’ll play 22 levels with 30-minute durations. It’s worth noting that there is unlimited reentry per flight, providing multiple chances to get back into the action. Late registration will remain open until approximately 5 p.m. on each Day 1.

Day 1b and Day 1c start at 10 a.m. on July 11 and July 12, respectively.

Day 2 begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, and the tournament will play 17 levels or down to the final five players, whichever comes first. The final day, Monday, July 14, will see the remaining players battle it out for that $777,777 top prize, with only one walking away victorious.

Please note: PokerNews traditional coverage of this event begins on Day 2.

The current champion is American Michael Liang, who emerged victorious in 2024 after recovering from an astonishing 9:1 chip deficit in heads-up play. Liang navigated through an enormous field of 6,292 runners on his path to capture a majority of the $4,303,728 prize pool.

PokerNews caught up with Liang after the win to ask him how he was feeling after winning his first piece of gold. "It feels amazing. I've had a few close calls in the past. I've had a second place, a third place, and a fifth place, so it feels good to finally break through."

When asked what the bracelet means to him, Liang explained, "It means a lot. It's one of those things that you dream about when you first start playing poker, and then coming so close in the past and not achieving it, it kind of makes you wonder if it's ever going to happen."
