Those who navigate through to Day 2, which starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, will play another ten levels, enjoy 15-minute breaks every two levels, and fill their bellies during a 60-minute dinner break after Level 16 (around 7:30 p.m. local time). Monday, July 14, is the third and final day of play. Its start time will be decided in due course.

Michael Rocco is this event's reigning champion. Rocco left 501 opponents in his wake as he collected $924,922 and the first bracelet of his career. Rocco defeated Frenchman Alexandre Reard heads up for the title, and revealed to PokerNews in his post-victory interview that he'd been putting in plenty of work behind the scenes in his quest to win poker gold.

"I woke up at four in the morning for 98 days straight and studied for six hours daily. I feel like it helped me at this tournament. I was quite short most of the time. I think I would have played a few hands differently had I not studied. It ended up working out."

Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

Kristen Foxen kicked the action off with a raise under the gun to 1,000. Zhou Lin called from the cutoff, which encouraged the player on the button and the player in the big blind to follow suit.

All four players checked on the K43 flop. Foxen then picked her betting lead back up on the 10 turn, placing a bet of 3,000. Lin called, but the other two players got out of the way.

The dealer then added the Q river to the board, and Foxen continued for 7,500. An indecisive Lin then toiled with whether or not to call. He cut out the chips ready to make the call, but ultimately decided just to let go of his hand, with a pained look on his face.
