Lawson Uses Big Stack to Advantage

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

In a pot of 80,000, Julian Penza checked the 3297 turn in middle position to Antwan Lawson on the button. Lawson bet 35,000, and Penza called.

Another check from Penza followed on the A river. Lawson then quickly overbet-shoved, putting his opponent all in for 185,000. Penza pondered his decision for a while, but eventually decided to fold to preserve his remaining chips.

Kurtz Takes From Soverel

Sam Soverel

David Kurtz led out for 60,000 from the big blind on the 6834 board, and Sam Soverel called from under the gun.

The 9 completed the runout, bringing a fourth spade on board, but it didn't slow Kurtz down as he fired another 100,000.

Soverel took around a minute to decide how to proceed before deciding that a fold was best. As Kurtz's cards were pushed toward the dealer, Soverel stared at them, jokingly resisting the temptation to take a peek.

"Profit is Profit"

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Damon Fine
Damon Fine

Jungyeon Won opened to 8,000, which led to a slew of callers, including Lorenzo Rodriguez from the hijack, Damon Fine on the button, David Christoffel in the small blind, and Chris Hunichen in the big blind.

It checked all the way to Fine on the button on the AA3 flop. Fine followed with a wager of 11,000. Everyone folded except Rodriguez in the hijack to trim it down to a heads-up pot.

The 8 turn resulted in a check from Rodriguez. Fine bet 36,000 and was called.

Rodriguez knuckled the K river before Fine opted to bet 85,000. Rodriguez gave it brief thought before he made the call.

Rodriguez showed AQ for trip aces, much to the amusement of Fine, who revealed he had the same hand with AQ.

Fine was disappointed at first, but then he reconciled himself to the idea that it was better than a loss.

"Profit is profit," said Fine. "No complaining."

Samad Flops Quads to Crack Poullikkas's Aces

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad

Abdul Samad opened to no less than 20,000 second-to-act before Antonios Poullikkas jammed for 104,000 from the hijack. It folded back to Samad who went into a small tank.

"Please don't show me kings," Samad pleaded as he put in the call, only slightly covering his opponent.

Antonios Poullikkas: AxAx All in
Abdul Samad: QQ

Samad was in fact not shown kings, but Poullikkas did one better with two aces.

However, Poullikkas's lead was short-lived as the QQ6 flop gave Samad quad queens.

It was all over on the 9 turn to the 7 river as Samad made sure that the entire Paris Yellow section knew about it. After shouting indecipherable phrases for about 15 seconds, Samad sat down and stacked his chips with a smile, while a crushed Poullikkas left his seat.

Scott Blumstein raised to 8,000 from under the gun and four players called including Carlos Sanchez Diaz on the button.

The board rolled out 843 and action checked around to Sanchez Diaz who bet 13,000 and only Blumstein called.

Both players checked the turn 5 to the river Q where Blumstein moved all in for 53,000 and Sanchez Diaz folded.

Cheruku Busts Manzi

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Jonathan Metz opened to 8,000 from the hijack before Scott Manzi three-bet all in for 49,000 from the small blind.

Abhijith Cheruku isolated with a four-bet jam for 103,000, which led to a fold from Metz as Manzi was at risk as they went to a showdown.

Scott Manzi: A10All in
Abhijith Cheruku: AA

Manzi was in the undesirable position of having run into aces and was left hoping for diamonds as they went to a flop.

The flop came 264 to keep Cheruku well out in front.

Manzi gained some hope of survival on the 3 turn as a five would lead to a chop.

Despite his pleas for a five, the 4 river peeled to eliminate Manzi from contention.
