The Field Thins Quickly; No More Gold

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The field has now dipped below 100 players, with all remaining players having locked up at least $3,848.

Several returning WSOP bracelet holders are among the recent eliminations, and their dreams of adding to their records came to an end early in the day.

Jung Takes Down Yao

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Jiayi Yao open-jammed from early position for his remaining 155,000. Julius Jung re-jammed on the button for 810,000. With the blinds folding, the pair were left to head to a showdown.

Jiayi Yao: KQAll in
Julius Jung: AK

With no hearts coming in on the 45J flop, there was a small hope of a runner-runner straight for Yao. The 6 turn didn't improve him, and he was already standing to watch the J river seal his elimination

Gauthier Sends Eisen Packing

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Brandon Eisen
Brandon Eisen

Action folded to Loris Gauthier on the button, who made it 20,000 to play. He was looked up by Brandon Eisen in the small blind and Giuseppe Pantaleo in the big blind.

The flop came 235, and it was checked to Gauthier, who continued for 20,000. Eisen check-raised to 60,000, which found a fold from Pantaleo, but Gauthier re-raised to put Eisen all in for not much more; Eisen snap-called.

Brandon Eisen: 65 All in
Loris Gauthier: 44

Eisen was ahead but had some outs to dodge to stay alive. The K changed nothing, but when the A peeled off on the river and gave Gauthier his straight, Eisen was sent to the cage.

Dinh Leaves Nguyen on Fumes

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Thai Dinh
Thai Dinh

Thai Dinh open-jammed all in for 48,000 from the hijack, and Tommy Nguyen three-bet all in from the button to isolate. The blinds folded quickly.

Thai Dinh: Q6 All in
Tommy Nguyen: KQ

No help for Dinh on the J310 flop, but when the 6 peeled off on the turn, he stormed into the lead. None of his outs came to save Nguyen on the 5 river, and Dinh was shipped the pot for a double-up, leaving Nguyen with less than four big blinds.

Wazwaz Takes Down Rodriguez

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Gerardo Rodriguez: 55All in
Sabry Wazwaz: KQ

Rodriguez managed to hold on the 47J flop, but the Q turn put Wazwaz ahead. The 9 sealed Rodriguez's fate in the tournament, and he was sent to the rail after just 15 minutes of Day 2 action.

Wazwaz Pays Off Walton

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Adam Walton
Adam Walton

Adam Walton made it 20,000 to play from the button and was looked up by Sabry Wazwaz in the big blind.

The action went check, check on the 10J7 flop, with the 8 peeling off on the turn. Wazwaz check-called Walton's 30,000 delayed continuation-bet, and the dealer rolled over the A as the river.

Wazwaz checked to Walton, who fired out a river bet of 75,000, which sent Wazwaz into the tank. He made the call, but mucked his cards on seeing Walton table Q9 for a turned straight.
