Gates was on the wrong end of a cooler and needed a lot of help from the dealer to survive and deliver the bad beat on Sun.

No help came on the QQ72A runout as Sun improved to a full house, and Gates was next casualy of the event in 13th place.

Mugar Sends it All

Ivan Ruban put in a raise to 125,000 from middle position, which received a call from Peter Mugar in the cutoff and Daniyal Gheba in the big blind.

Both Gheba and Ruban checked to Mugar, who bet 125,000 on the 826 flop. Gheba folded, but Ruban stuck around.

Ruban checked once again on the 10, but Mugar didn't slow down. This time, he put a more substantial 400,000 in the middle. Undeterred, Ruban called again.

The 4 completed the board, and Ruban checked in flow. Mugar loaded up the third barrel and fired it all, moving all in for 1,155,000. Ruban spent some time in the tank, mulling over his options before he opted to surrender the pot and returned his cards to the dealer.
