Action was picked up in a pot between Robert Wells in the hijack and Lawrence Brandt in the big blind who had defended to Wells' open.
On a board of 10♠10♣3♠, Wells continued for 10,000 after Brandt checked. Brandt moved all in for 43,000 effective and Wells called.
Robert Wells: A♠6♣3♣2♠
Lawrence Brandt: J♠J♦5♦2♦
Wells hit his flush on the turn K♠ and hit a low on the river 2♣ and he survived his confrontation with Brandt.
Erik Seidel opened under the gun before Marco Johnson three-bet to 20,500 in the big blind, and Seidel called.
The 10♣9♣7♣ flop checked through to the 2♦ turn, which saw Johnson bet and Seidel called all-in for his final 21,000.
Erik Seidel: A♠Q♣10♦2♥
Marco Johnson: A♥K♦5♠3♦
Seidel was in good shape with his tens and deuces, but Johnson held the low draw. However, the river was the K♣ and Seidel's two pair was enough for the scoop.
Action was picked up on the flop with cards on their backs between WSOP bracelet winners Sam Soverel in the big blind and Robert Slezak in the cutoff.
The board read Q♠8♦5♥ and both players got all of their chips in with Soverel all in for 85,000.
Sam Soverel: A♣Q♣7♠6♥
Robert Slezak: A♥Q♥6♠4♠
Both players shared the same top pair, but the runout of 8♠2♣ gave Slezak a superior low to Soverel and he was awarded the pot.
On a completed board of K♥10♦7♦9♠3♠, Dylan Weisman from the big blind and Andreas Frohli from early position both had 27,000 in front of them, with just under 50,000 sitting in the middle.
Weisman led with a bet of 87,500, sending Frohli deep into the tank. He eventually landed on call, but he got the back news as Weisman tabled Q♠J♠9♣4♠ for the nut straight, and he collected a huge one to start the day.
Eric Wasserson raised to 8,500 from first position to see Magnus Edengren call from one seat over.
The flop rolled out 10♣7♦6♥ and Wasserson bet the pot to see Edengren repot to put himself all in for 38,000 and Wasserson called.
Magnus Edengren: A♥K♠10♥4♠
Eric Wasserson: A♠A♦9♠3♣
Wasserson further improved to two pair on the 7♥ turn and the 5♠ river gave Wasserson the second nut low to boot, scooping Edengren early into Day 2.
Shota Nakanishi potted to 8,500 from the cutoff and only Allen Bari called on the button.
On the 10♦7♣4♦ flop, Nakanishi led for 15,000, Bari jammed for 37,500, and Nakanishi called.
Allen Bari: A♥K♦J♦3♠
Shota Nakanishi: A♣7♥6♣5♥
Bari held a flush draw with the better low draw against the middle pair and open-ender of Nakanishi. However, the board would run out Q♠10♠, bricking all the draws as Nakanishi's pair of sevens were best to scoop Bari to the rail.
The players have taken their seats, and action is back underway in Day 2!
