Fal tabled A♠10♦6♦ for a flush, while Blumenthal had 4♥3♦2♥ in the hole for a straight to the six and low, getting half the pot.

The A♦ turn checked through before Blumenthal check-called a final bet on the 8♣ river. Fal tabled 6♣4♥3♣2♣ for two pair with six-two for low, and he scooped.

Donovan Bates defended his big blind from a Eddie Blumenthal open. He then called a bet on the J♦10♦K♦ flop, and bet when checked to on the 2♦ turn. Blumenthal folded, and Bates tabled Q♦10♠10♣8♦.

The very next hand, Donovan Bates called from the small blind then called a raise from big blind Nikolai Fal. Bates check-called a bet on the 8♠J♦8♦ flop before leading out on the K♣ flop. Fal folded and Bates showed K♥8♠ for a boat.

The hand after that, Bates raised the button and Blumenthal defended his big blind. Blumenthal check-folded on the 5♣10♦8♣ flop and Bates showed that he'd flopped a massive combo draw with A♣J♣J♦9♣.

"They almost had me," said Bates.
