Tyler Patterson raised to 12,000 in late position and Ruslan Zakharchuk called in the small blind.
The dealer put out a monotone flop of 9♠J♠6♠ and Zakharchuk led out with a bet of 12,000. Patterson raised to 43,000 and Zakharchuk called, bringing the 10♥ turn.
Zakharchuk led out again, this time for 52,000, and Patterson bumped it up to 127,000. Zakharchuk made the call.
The J♣ river paired the board and Zakharchuk checked. Patterson thought for a moment before electing to check back with A♠5♠ for the nut flush, besting the K♥Q♠ of Zakharchuk.
Christopher Vitch raised to 12,000 on the button. Tyler Hirschfeld made the call from the small blind.
Rudy Cervantes, who took a massive loss the hand prior, had just 2,000 left after paying the big blind and ante. He tossed that in.
A straight flush flop came Q♥J♥10♥. Vitch and Hirschfield both checked.
On the turn of the 3♣, Hirschfeld bet 25,000. Vitch called.
The river brought the 7♦ and a 75,000-chip bet from Hirschfeld. Vitch threw in his cards.
Hirschfeld showed 9♣8♣ for a flopped straight. Cervantes slipped his cards into the muck and was out of the tournament.
Tyler Kolness limped in from the small blind, and Dennis Alonzo checked his option from the big blind. The flop came with 3♦A♦8♣, and Kolness checked, while Alonzo bet 13,000. Kolness called.
Both players checked the turn 4♥.
On the river 10♦, Koleness checked again, and Alonzo bet 15,000.
Koleness stated, "I tried to trap here," and called.
Alonzo turned over 6♥3♥ for a pair of threes, and Kolness surprisingly turned over K♥K♣ for the higher pair.
Joey Weissman was seen dragging in a pot after having doubled up with pocket aces.
With his cards still face-up, Weissman's A♣A♥ held on the 2♣6♠3♠5♥7♥ runout as the money bubble nears.
The hand was picked up with around 230,000 chips in the pot and the board already to the river reading A♠7♠K♥7♦J♦.
The action was on Konstantin Cugunov, who moved all in with 223,000.
Rudy Cervantes thought long and hard before making the call.
Konstantin Cugunov: K♦K♠
Rudy Cervantes: A♣Q♠
Cervantes had flopped a pair of aces, but Cugunov had flopped a set of kings.
The win gave Cugunov a huge boost and left Cervantes with crumbs.
Bob Shao opened to 12,000 from middle position and John Ypma three-bet to 25,000 from middle position. Action folded back around to Shao who four-bet jammed for his last 115,000 and Ypma snap called.
Bob Shao: A♦Q♦
John Ypma: A♠A♣
Shao needed to hit to stay alive but there was no luck on the 4♣J♥9♣ flop. He didn't get much of a sweat on the 6♣ turn either and he stood from the table as the dealer placed the Q♥ river.
Ypma, who was one of the top ten stacks returning to the day asked the table "Any of you fold a stick hand?". Toby Joyce who is also at the table responded "I had king-ten, there was a jack, nine, queen on the board right?", implying the runout could have gone a different way.
Action went three-ways to a flop of 2♦2♥8♠ in a hand between Naoya Kihara in early position, Daniel Jackson in the cutoff, and Chino Rheem on the button.
It checked to Jackson, who bet 15,000, and only Rheem continued to the Q♣ turn, where both players checked.
On the A♠ river, Jackson bet 18,000 and Rheem quickly called. Rheem turned over A♥10♥, besting the Q♠10♠ of Jackson.
Action folded to Sihao Zhang who opened to 12,000 on the button and Caleb Harris moved all in for his remaining 104,000 from the small blind. Zhang called and the pair flipped their hands.
Caleb Harris: 8♦8♠
Sihao Zhang: A♣9♠
Harris was hoping to hold and the 2♠7♦4♥ flop kept him ahead with the eights. There was no improvement for Zhang on the 10♣ turn or 6♥ river and he tumbled down to his last 34,000.
In the next hand Zhang open-jammed from the cutoff and saw Tony Miles call from the small blind.
Sihao Zhang: 10♥8♥
Tony Miles: K♥K♠
Miles was ahead with pocket kings and with a king coming in the window on the A♥9♣K♣ flop, Zhang was looking for the backdoor straight or flush to come in.
A 2♦ turn didn't help Zhang and he was eliminated from the tournament in the first level of the day as the 10♠ fell on the river.
