Glantz Gives Final Chips to Lonis

Level 18
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

No-Limit Hold'em

Jesse Lonis raised under the gun. It folded to Matt Glantz in the big blind, who stuck in his final 85,000. Lonis quickly called off the extra few chips.

Matt Glantz: J3 All in
Jesse Lonis: K5

Lonis flopped trips on KQK to leave Glantz drawing slim. The 9 turn provided some outs, but the 3 river was not enough to save Glantz from going under.

Taherpour Runs Into Arieh's Better Eight

Level 18
Dara Taherpour
Dara Taherpour

2-7 Triple Draw

Jesse Lonis raised in the hijack and Dara Taherpour three-bet in the cutoff, leaving himself one 5,000 chip behind. Josh Arieh then four-bet in the small blind and Lonis called, while Taherpour called all in.

All three players drew one, and Arieh then bet. Lonis called and drew one, while Arieh and Taherpour stood pat. Arieh then bet, and Lonis called.

Arieh and Taherpour stood pat again on the final draw, and Lonis took one. All three players checked, and Arieh turned over 8x7x6x3x2x. Lonis mucked, while Taherpour mucked 8x7x6x5x3x and was sent to the rail.

Bryce Yockey Bubbles the $50,000 Poker Players Championship

Level 18
Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

Pot-Limit Omaha

Bryce Yockey raised to 85,000 under the gun, leaving himself just 15,000 behind, and Phil Ivey called in the cutoff, as did Roy Thung and Jason Mercier in the blinds.

Action checked to Ivey on the 9107 flop, and he bet 50,000. All three opponents quickly folded.

Yockey was forced all in from the big blind the next hand, the 47th since going hand-for-hand, as four opponents limped in to see the J310 flop. Ivey then bet 50,000 from the hijack, and Nick Guagenti called in the cutoff.

Ivey checked the 6 turn and Guagenti bet 110,000. Ivey called, and Guagenti bet another 155,000 on the 10 river. Ivey again called.

Guagenti turned over KJJ5 for a full house and Ivey mucked, while Yockey also tossed 9865 into the muck as he made his way to the exit on the money bubble.

Wells Takes Tough Beat To Bust Shy of the Money

Level 17
Robert Wells
Robert Wells

Seven Card Stud

Roy Thung: XxXx / AJ5 - folded on fifth street
Robert Wells: 66 / 62410 / 3
Paul Volpe: 87 / JJ88 / 10

Paul Volpe completed with a jack and Roy Thung raised. Table short stack Robert Wells then made it three bets with 120,000 in chips behind - one full bet and a half. Volpe called and Thung came along as they headed to fourth street, on which Volpe paired his jack to bet.

Thung went into a brief tank and then tossed out three green chips for 75,000 total, which was ruled as a call. Thung first mentioned he was going to call but didn't announce anything, but didn't mind the ruling as a raise either. Wells then moved all-in behind and Volpe called, as did Thung.

Volpe bet again on fifth street and that's when Thung eventually got out of the way to see the cards turned over.

Wells was out in front with his rolled up set of sixes while Volpe had jacks and eights. The tides turned on sixth street when Volpe caught another eight for a full house and Wells caught two blanks to bust two spots away from the money.

"You know what I had," Thung told Volpe, who was still stacking the chips.

Jason Mercier was moved to Wells' vacated seat with two racks full of chips.

"Wow, nobody is short here except Bryce [Yockey]."

Rast Falls Three Spots Shy of the Money Against Glaser

Level 17
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Pot Limit Omaha

Brian Rast was able to scoop a pot in the previous hand towards the end of the Pot Limit Omaha round and then found himself in the big blind still on a very critical short stack. The action folded to Benny Glaser in the small blind and he raised to 60,000. Rast potted behind and Glaser eyeballed Rast's short stack briefly before reraising. Rast called all-in.

Brian Rast: AJ94 All in
Benny Glaser: AJJ6

Rast was in dire shape and the 765 flop brought no further equity in his bid for a repeat victory. It was all over on the 6 turn to make the 5 river a formality. The 2023 $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner bowed out just shy of the money while Glaser cemented his position among the big stacks in the field with 19 players remaining and 17 spots paid.

"Alright guys, it was fun ... good luck," Rast said after grabbing his belongings and then left the tournament area.

Wasserson Loses It All to Thung and Ivey

Level 16
Eric Wasserson
Eric Wasserson

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Eric Wasserson barreled through a board of 54245 and had just over one big bet behind when Roy Thung called on the river. Wasserson tabled the AA64 for trips fours but was left flabbergasted when Thung showed his AJ103 for a wheel.

Razz

Phil Ivey: 8x5x / 4x4xAxJx / 8x
Eric Wasserson: 2x3x / 4x10xKx4x / 2x

Left visibly frustrated and down to only 70,000 prior to posting the ante in Razz, Wasserson then moved all-in over a completion by Phil Ivey, who quickly called. Wasserson quickly meshed his three first cards together to show a four-trey-deuce start against Ivey's eight-five-four.

On fourth street, Ivey even paired his four while Wasserson had a ten draw. However, the run-bad continued on the next two streets when Wasserson caught a king and paired his four. Ivey made a jack-eight and paired his eight on the final card to leave the door wide open for Wasserson to survive.

However, it was not meant to be as he also paired the 2x and quickly walked out of the tournament area.

Ray Dehkharghani

Razz

Ray Dehkharghani: Ax2x / 4x8x8xKx / Xx
Robert Wells: XxXx / 6x5x9xJx / Xx folded on seventh street
Nick Guagenti: XxXx / 7x9x6xKx / Xx

Ray Dehkharghani completed and was called by Robert Wells as well as Nick Guagenti. On Fourth street, Wells bet his advantage and Guagenti called, Dehkharghani raised and Wells made it three bets. Guagenti called the reraise and Dehkharghani called all-in for a total of 70,000 on that street.

The two active players checked the fifth and sixth street before Wells check-folded on seventh to a bet. Guagenti tabled the 6x2xAx in the hole for a nine-seven while Dehkharghani was sweating with his eight draw. However, he picked up a Qx as the final card and was eliminated.

Level 16
Luke Schwartz
Luke Schwartz

No-Limit Hold'em

Luke Schwartz raised to 50,000 in the cutoff and Bryce Yockey three-bet to 140,000 on the button. Schwartz then moved all in for 425,000, and Yockey took a minute before calling.

Luke Schwartz: AK All in
Bryce Yockey: AJ

Schwartz had Yockey dominated and was poised for a double up, but the J62 flop gave Yockey top pair and the lead. "That's so sick," Schwartz said in disgust as he shot out of his seat.

The rest of the board ran out 910. "Insane," Schwartz added before heading off to the rail.

"Don't ever run like Luke," Eric Wasserson said.

Thung Calls Down Hansen With a Nine

Level 15
Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Roy Thung raised to 40,000 under the gun and was called by Luke Schwartz in middle position and Phil Ivey on the button. Gus Hansen then moved all in for 331,000 in the small blind.

Thung tanked for several minutes as a swarm of cameras surrounded the table. He eventually called as action went back on Schwartz, who also took a few minutes to consider the decision. "Take your time," Hansen told him, and Schwartz ended up folding. Ivey also quickly got rid of his cards.

Both players stood pat, and Thung turned over 9x7x6x5x4x. Hansen flashed a 10x and tossed his cards into the muck before heading off to the rail.
