Construction Delayed on Hansen's Empire

Level 16
Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Omaha Hi-Lo

Carol Fuchs raised from the hijack, Bryce Yockey called in the cutoff, Gus Hansen was forced all-in for 12,000 from the small blind, and Arthur Morris called in the big blind.

"This is gonna be the start of an empire," a confident Hansen announced before the flop was dealt.

Morris led out on the Q95 flop, and both Fuchs and Yockey called to add to the side pot.

The 7 turn checked through to the 8 river which saw Morris lead again. Fuchs called, and Yockey folded after some deliberation.

Gus Hansen: 8432 All in
Arthur Morris: KJ109
Carol Fuchs: AJ42

Morris had the nuts for the high and Fuchs had the nuts for the low, leaving Hansen empty-handed as his empire will have to wait another day to be built.

At another table, Alex Livingston lost the last of his chips to Aaron Kupin playing Seven Card Stud.

Seven Card Stud

Nick Guagenti: 7248QJ/KAll in
Alexander Kostritsyn: AQ64103/5

Nick Guagenti was already all-in and at risk against Alexander Kostritsyn heading into seventh street.

Kostritsyn peeled first and was left with just ace-high, but Guagenti peeled a king to be left with king-high for the elimination.

A Long Uphill Climb for Hansen

Level 16

Omaha Hi-Lo

A big three-way pot emerged on the 722103 board in which Josh Arieh bet the river out of the big blind. Gus Hansen called from under the gun and Qinghai Pan also reluctantly called as well.

Arieh tabled his A932 for deuces full of treys and Pan showed his AK54 for the low. Hansen briefly revealed his AQ62 for trip deuces and was scooped to be left with only 8,000 and in the big blind next.

"It's gonna be a long uphill climb," the Great Dane joked.

Arthur Morris then raised from under the gun and Josh Arieh didn't see the raise, briefly exposed his cards thinking that he was heads-up with Hansen already. He opted to fold before the floor arrived and they ran the all-in, in which Hansen declared he had Morris crushed.

Gus Hansen: J1072 All in
Arthur Morris: A1042

The 887Q6 board denied Hansen the scoop and he went from 8,000 to 12,000.

Rheem Survives Twice

Level 16

Razz

Ali Eslami: XxXx / 3xAx9x5x / Xx
William Kerkaert: Qx6x3x / Ax2x7x4x
Julien Sitbon: XxXx / 9xKx folded on fourth street

Ali Eslami completed and was called by William Kerkaert as well as Julien Sitbon. Kerkaert bet fourth street for Sitbon to fold while Eslami called. Kerkaert bet fifth street to pick up a call and they checked sixth street. Another bet by Kerkaert was called on seventh and Eslami called but mucked against the seven-six.

Chino Rheem: 9x3x / 2x5x3x8x / 3xAll in
Yueqi Zhu: 2x8x / AxKx2x10x / Ax

Chino Rheem had previously doubled his severe short stack and was then all-in on fifth street when Yueqi Zhu reluctantly called, having paired his deuce. Rheem made a nine-eight on sixth to lock up the double and exclaimed "I am back in the game".

Chambers Shows the Goods

Level 16

Omaha Hi-Lo

Matt Grapenthien raised on the button and Walter Chambers defended his big blind.

Both players checked on the 332 flop and then Grapenthien called bets from Chambers on the J turn and 7 river.

"Full house with a low," Chambers said as he turned over J643 as advertised. Grapenthien couldn't beat it and sent his cards into the middle.

Beinner Takes From Kihara

Level 16

Omaha Hi-Lo

Matthew Beinner raised from the cutoff and called a three-bet from Naoya Kihara, who was on the button.

Beinner check-called a bet from Kihara on the 824 flop and then both players checked on the 7 turn.

The K brought four cards to a flush on board and Beinner led out for a bet, sending Kihara into the tank.

"Hmm..." Kihara pondered before letting his hand go. Beinner re-checked his hole cards and mucked without showing.

Kupin's Nine is Enough

Level 16

Razz

Aaron Kupin limped, Alex Livingston completed, Brian Yoon called, and Kupin came along.

Aaron Kupin: XxXx / 5x9x2x6x / Xx
Alex Livingston: XxXx / Ax3xAxKx - folded on sixth street
Brian Yoon: XxXx / 4x9x2x2x / Xx

Livingston led on fourth, getting two callers. He then paired on fourth, giving the board lead to Yoon who checked. Kupin bet, and both opponents called.

Kupin showed the only pair-less board on sixth and led, Livingston opted to fold, and Yoon called.

Seventh checked through as Kupin tabled 6x6xAx in the hold, and his nine-six was enough for the win as Yoon disappointingly mucked.
