Small Pot for Yu

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi Lo

Ben Yu is one of many well-known faces in the field and hovers well below the average, while his tablemate Greg Mueller is right above that. In a recent Omaha hi-lo hand, Yu raised to 1,000 from the cutoff, Mueller folded in the small blind, and the big blind called.

On the {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, the big blind check-called a continuation bet before the {A-Diamonds} fell on the turn. This time, the check and bet were followed by a fold, and Yu raked in the pot without showdown to secure an important boost to his stack.

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Razz

Michael Lech: {5-Spades}{3-Hearts} / {Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{Q-Spades} / {X-}
John Racener: {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} / {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} / {4-Hearts}

Dzmitry Urbanovich could not catch a miracle and was just spotted leaving the tournament area. At the same time, Michael Lech was also at risk in a razz hand and fell to John Racener. It all went in after third street, as Lech only had four bets left.

Gathy Takes a Hit

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Seven-Card Stud

Michael Gathy: {X-}{X-} / {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The mission to claim yet another bracelet has taken a setback for Michael Gathy, as he just doubled up a short stack in a seven-card stud hand. Preflop, Gathy faced a completion and raised, the player next to him made it two bets, and Gathy called. The completer folded.

On fourth street, the short stack bet 500 with 300 behind, and Gathy raised to create the following showdown.

Gathy: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The buried queens of Gathy were slightly ahead, and he caught the {8-Clubs} on fifth and {7-Spades} on sixth to improve to two pair. The player at risk found no sufficient help on fifth street ({5-Diamonds}) or sixth ({9-Spades}), but the {8-Hearts} on seventh completed his flush. Gathy picked up a blank and was sent back to less than half the starting stack.

Thoutt Takes it on Seventh

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

Seven-Card Stud

Adam Thoutt: {X-}{X-} / {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} / {X-}
Opponent: {X-}{X-} / {10-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Ismael Bojang: {X-}{X-} / {4-Spades}{K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} / {X-}

A player completed with a king and Ismael Bojang called before the player next to him made it three bets. Adam Thoutt called and Bojang also came along. Both Thoutt and Bojang called the bets of the third player on fourth and fifth street. Thoutt bet sixth street and was called, then bet again on seventh street.

Bojang eventually sighed and announced, "I fold."

The third player in the hand came to the same conclusion.

"Queens up any good?" Bojang asked.

The other player chimed in, "I think he had a flush," referring to Thoutt.

The latter replied, "I had two pair and a flush draw," and raked in the pot before the trio headed into the dinner break.
