Marchese vs. Stein

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Tom Marchese has had the lead in this match for the majority of play. Until recently, that is, when Sam Stein took down a big pot with {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} on a jack-high board with his second pair of nines. Marchese then doubled through on the very next hand with {a-}{7-} versus Stein's {j-}{10-} and closed the gap.

Weird Win for Katz

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

There was roughly 7,500 in the pot with the board reading {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Spades} {2-Clubs}. Action was on Cary Katz after he had bet 5,000 and was raised to 15,000 by Barry Woods on the button. Katz piled his stack in, somewhat splashing his bet and tabled his hand, which was {5-}{4-} for two pair. Woods then tabled his hand, which was {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

The dealer called over the floor, as Woods still had a decision to call for 8,600 more. As the floor had approached, Woods said he was folding to that raise. Katz raked in the pot, and he was given a two-hand penalty for exposing his cards prematurely with action pending. He forked over a small and big blind for 2,400, and play is now continuing.

Moritz Dietrich Takes Down Rainer Kempe

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Following the river of a board that read {K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} with about 18,000 in the pot, Rainer Kempe (small blind) was in the tank for his remaining 25,000-ish after being set in by Moritz Dietrich. After about three minutes, Kempe called all in.

Dietrich tabled {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a nine-high straight, Kempe mucked, and Dietrich won the match.
