Ramos Doubles Through Racener

Level 14 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

PLO-8

John Racener raised to 1,800 from under the gun, Felipe Ramos reraised the pot from the small blind, Racener reraised, and Ramos called all in for 8,300.

Racener: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Ramos: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

The board came down {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, giving Ramos the second-best low to go along with his aces to win the pot.

Felipe Ramos Gets Quartered

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante
Felipe Ramos
Felipe Ramos

Big-O

Felipe Ramos got his stack in on a flop of {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} against Rock Howard, who had him covered by a wide margin.

Ramos: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Howard: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

Both players had the nut low, but Howard also had top two pair, which left Ramos drawing thin for the high half, especially since all the aces in the deck were already out. The {9-Clubs} turn and {5-Clubs} river changed nothing, and Rock took three-quarters of the pot to leave Ramos with half of his previous stack.

Sam Farha Eliminated by Matthew Smith

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

PLO-8

As relayed to us, Matthew Smith raised from under the gun, and Sam Farha called from the big blind.

They checked to the turn of a {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} board, where Farha bet 3,000. Smith called, the river was the {J-Spades}, and Farha bet his remaining 3,500 or so. Smith called.

Farha showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} for trip kings, but Smith tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush to eliminate Farha.

Stacey Vaughn Climbing

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

PLO-8

With about 5,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Stacey Vaughn checked from the big blind, a player in middle position checked, and Phil Hellmuth bet 3,000 from the cutoff. Vaughn called and the middle-position player called as well.

The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Vaughn lead out for 9,000. The middle-position player folded, Hellmuth folded as well, and Vaughn took the pot.

A Few More Chip Counts

New Chip Leader Allen Kessler Takes Down Alex Luneau

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Big-O

As recapped to us by Allen Kessler and fellow players at his table, Kessler raised from the hijiack and Alex Luneau called from the big blind.

The flop came down {8-}{6-}{4-} and a flurry of action resulted in Luneau all in for roughly 70,000. Kessler had him barely covered.

Kessler: {A-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}
Luneau: {A-}{8-}{8-}{2-}{X-}

Kessler held the nut straight and second best low, while Luneau held top set with the nut low.

An {A-} turn and {2-} river completed the board, giving Kessler the high with his eight-high straight and the low with a wheel, eliminating Luneau in what was easily the largest pot of the tournament.
