Mike Gorodinsky Eliminated by John Monnette

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Mike Gorodinsky (in a previoius event)
Mike Gorodinsky (in a previoius event)

With around 10,000 in the pot and the board reading {J-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}, John Monnette checked in early position, and Mike Gorodinsky bet 5,700 on the button. Monnette check-raised to 13,000, and Gorodinsky moved all in for around 29,000. Monnette called, and Gorodinsky was at risk.

Gorodinsky: {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Monnette: {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Both players had trip sevens with an ace kicker, but the {10-Hearts} turn gave Monnette sevens full of tens. Gorodinsky also filled up on the {4-Clubs} river, but Monnette's boat was better, and the 2015 WSOP Player of the Year was eliminated.

Monnette is once again at the top of the counts.

David Hunt Wins Another

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Shaun Deeb raised from late position to 2,400, and David Hunt defended from the big blind.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, and Hunt checked. Deeb bet 3,500, and Hunt called. The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and Hunt check-called another 6,000. The river was the {9-Spades}, and both players checked.

"Jacks full," Hunt called out. He showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades} for a full house, and Deeb mucked.

Heaps Again for Henson After Busting Katchalov

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Ray Henson
Ray Henson

Another tournament, another big stack for Ray Henson, who can seem to do no wrong at the moment in the Rio.

He just busted Eugene Katchalov when the two got stacks in on a {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} flop. Henson had {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a low draw and a nut flush draw against the {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Spades} of Eugene Katchalov, with the latter flopping the nuts and holding a couple of blockers. However, the turn was an {8-Diamonds} to lock up the low for Henson and the river {2-Spades} gave him the nuts both ways.

Stiers Survives

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

A player in middle position opened for a raise, and Joseph Stiers potted in the small blind for most of his chips — 8,400. The middle-position player thought for a while and called, and Stiers put the last 7,900 in on the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop. His opponent called with {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Spades} for a gutshot and some backdoors.

Stiers had {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} for top pair and turned trips when the {10-Spades} hit. The river was the {k-Hearts}, and he doubled up.

David Hunt Gets Three Quarters

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Georgii Belianin had 17,000 in front of him already in the pot. David Hunt bet the pot for 43,700, and Belianin shoved all in. Hunt called. The board read {4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and the players revealed their hands. They both had the same full house.

Hunt: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Belianin: {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

As the board stood, the two players would chop, but with one card to come, Hunt was a favorite to get more than half the pot.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and that brought Hunt a better low. He made the best low hand and the same full house and earned three-quarters of the pot from Belianin.

A Kings-Full Flat

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Three players saw the river on a board of {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. There was around 25,000 in the pot, and Josh Arieh led out with a bet of 21,000 in the small blind. After one fold, John Monnette called from under the gun.

"You got it," Arieh said.

Monnette tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades} for kings full.

"You just called?" Ryan Miller wondered aloud.
