Shaun Deeb Wins Against Matt Berkey

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Shaun Deeb raised to 1,200 from middle position, and Matt Berkey three-bet to 3,000 from the hijack. Deeb called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, and Deeb check-called the 5,500 bet of Berkey. They both checked through the {5-Diamonds} on the turn and the {2-Diamonds} on the river, although Berkey took a bit more time to check on the last card.

Deeb showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Berkey said he was expecting him to have something like that. Berkey showed {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and Deeb started stacking up the chips.

Welcome to Matt Berkey's Style

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Matt Berkey was drawn to a tough table, but that's more of a problem for his opponents than Berkey himself. It's Berkey who keeps the boat sailing, dominating the field.

Adam Levy arrived to the table in the middle of a hand between Berkey, Ilkin Amirov, and Artem Metalidi. Levy observed the remaining portion of the hand. He missed the opening piece when Amirov raised under the gun, and Berkey called on the button. Big blind Metalidi joined the contest, too.

The {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Spades} flop was checked to Berkey, who fired 2,500. Only Amirov called, and both players then checked the {A-Clubs} turn. Berkey, however, bet out another 8,000 on the {10-Spades} river. Amirov called rapidly, but the showdown wasn't a song to his ears.

Berkey turned up {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for a flopped combo draw, and he got there with a rivered flush. Amirov mucked, showing a sign of frustration.

Levy, who spent the hand on the sidelines, exchanged some words with Berkey, pointing out his ever-winning approach at the table.

"Welcome to my style," Berkey replied with a smile. "Show a few hands, play all the big pots," he described his strategy.

Waxman Heads to Dinner with a Nub

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Matt Waxman bet 1,500 on a board of {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts} in the cutoff, and the big blind put in a T5,000 chip and apparently said he was all in. However, the players agreed the chip had hit the felt before the all-in announcement. The player trying to jam vehemently protested this, but the supervisor who was called over ruled it was a call.

On the {5-Hearts} river, Waxman folded to a shove.

"I didn't have any outs anyway," he said. "But when the chip hits first, it's a call."

Reixach Flushed Away

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Sergi Reixach moved all in for about 9,000 on the turn, with {2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{6-Hearts} showing on the felt. His opponent called, and the hole cards were turned up.

Sergi Reixach: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

Reichach was ahead with a top pair, but he had to avoid 12 outs on the river with his opponent drawing to a flush and gutshot.

The river was the {8-Clubs}, sealing Reixach's fate. The Spaniard said the obligatory, "Good luck," and walked away.
