Ari Engel "The Wizard"

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

The board read {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts} with around 45,000 in the middle. Ari Engel checked from late position and his opponent bet 35,000. Engel was sent into the tank and, eventually, the clock was called. With around five seconds left to act before his hand would be dead, Engel tossed in chips to call.

"Good call," his opponent said as he flipped over {a-Spades}{6-Spades}. Engel showed {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and the dealer pushed the pot his way. "I missed everything, but I don't know how you called," Engel's opponent said as he walked away from the table.

"It's because he's a wizard," mentioned another player on the table as everyone chuckled.

Fumimasa Hirasawa Turns a Miracle

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Fumimasa Hirasawa raised to 6,000 from middle position and Alexander Farahi three-bet to 15,000 from late position. Hirasawa moved all in for 34,600 and Farahi quickly called.

Hirasawa was at risk with {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and was well behind Farahi's {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}, but it didn't change much as Hirasawa still needed to hit a jack to improve. Sure enough, the {j-Spades} hit the turn to give Hirasawa two pairs, and the river was the {9-Hearts} to lock up the double.

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Yin Liu raised to 5,200 from late position and Greg Buonocore moved all in for 35,400 from the cutoff. Liu thought for a moment before calling.

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Just a few hands after making a hero call on the river, Engel has built up one of the larger stacks in the room. A lot of the chips came at the hands of Jonathan Concepcion. There was a raise to 5,500 from early position and Concepcion three-bet to 16,500 from late position. Engel put in a four-bet to 34,500 from the cutoff and the initial raiser folded. Concepcion moved all in for around 75,000 and Engel made the call.

Engel: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Concepcion: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Concepcion was eliminated while Engel continued to stack chips.

Matt Affleck

Babak Badkoubei raised to 6,000 from the hijack and Matt Affleck called from the cutoff. Steven Tabb was in the big blind and moved all in for 46,800. Badkoubei thought for about a minute but eventually folded. Affleck asked for a count and decided to call.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Affleck flopped a monster draw with outs to make a flush or a straight. The turn was the {7-Spades} to complete his straight, and the river was the {q-Clubs} to send Tabb to the rail.

Ty Reiman Chips Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Chad Layne raised to 8,000 from late position and got calls from Ty Reiman on the button and Julian Stuer in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Layne checked. Reiman bet 10,500 and Stuer called, but Layne decided to fold. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Stuer took charge and led out for 13,000. Reiman thought for a moment and eventually called.

The river was the {4-Spades} and both players checked. Stuer tabled {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a busted straight draw and Reiman showed {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a pair of kings to take it down.
