Katz Over Negreanu

Level 17 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante
Aaron Katz
Aaron Katz

Pot-Limit Omaha

Picking up the action after the turn of a {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} board, Aaron Katz bet 100,000 from the small blind. Daniel Negreanu called from the big blind and Talal Shakerchi folded from the button.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Katz bet 275,000. Negreanu mulled it over for a bit before he called.

Katz tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} for queens full of threes, Negreanu flashed the {Q-Spades} and mucked, and Katz collected the pot.

Benson Doubles Through Shakerchi Before Break

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Gary Benson
Gary Benson

Pot-Limit Omaha

Gary Benson opened from the cutoff with a raise to 28,000. He met resistance in the form of calls from Talal Shakerchi, in the small blind, and Aaron Katz from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, and action checked to Benson, who put out a bet of 40,000. Shakerchi then raised to 105,000. Benson re-potted it. Sharkerchi moved all in, and Benson called.

Shakerchi: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Benson: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Both players had flopped the nut straight, but things got a little interesting with the {3-Clubs} on the turn, giving Shakerchi a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, Benson found a {J-Spades} on the river, giving him a full house. That earned him the double as players headed for break.

"Am I supposed to fold there?" Shakerchi asked.

"Fold? What do you mean fold?" Katz asked. "I'm trying to figure out how to get all the money in there!"

Shakerchi just shook his head and headed for break, as well.

Bach: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}: {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Zinno's seventh street was the {3-Spades} to keep him with aces and queens, while Bach caught the {J-Clubs} to make an inferior two pair and was eliminated.

Monster Double-Up For Mike Wattel

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Mike Wattel
Mike Wattel

Pot-Limit Omaha

Elior Sion raised from the cutoff, making it 32,000 to play. Mike Wattel called on the button, and Jake Abdalla called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, and Abdalla checked over to Sion. Sion bet 68,000. Wattel potted it, making it 306,000 to play. Abdalla thought for about a minute, then folded his hand.

"How much do you have behind?" Sion asked Wattel, who moved his hand to show. It was a little bit over 700,000. Sion finally decided to move all in, and Wattel called instantly.

"Set of queens, right?" Sion asked. He was right. Wattel showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Sion was holding {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for flush and straight draws.

Sion didn't catch up on the {3-Diamonds} turn or the {J-Spades} river. Wattel earned the massive double-up with that huge pot, while Sion was left with crumbs.

Quick Recovery For Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Limit Hold'em

After being put on a short stack just before dinner, Michael Mizrachi has started on the road to recovery. In a recent pot, a preflop raising war had Mizrachi, Ian Johns, and Josh Arieh putting in 100,000 apiece before the flop.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, and all three players checked to see the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. Mizrachi led out from the big blind and was called by Arieh from under the gun and Johns on the button. The river was the {9-Hearts}, and Mizrachi led out again. Arieh called, but Johns threw his hand away.

Mizrachi showed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} for a rivered full house, and that was good for him to take down the pot.

"Lets go, baby! Grind it out," came cheers from Mizrachi's family on the rail as he scooped the pot and removed himself from the danger zone.

Mercier drew one, Ashton drew two, and Gregorich drew one. Ashton check-called a bet from Gregorich.

Mercier drew one again, while Ashton and Gregorich stood pat. Ashton checked, Gregorich bet, and Ashton tanked for about 90 seconds before he called.

Seiver Gets off a Double Check-Raise; Tommy Hang Eliminated

Level 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

2-7 Triple Draw

We caught up to the hand after the first draw. Alexander Kostritsyn had bet. Tommy Hang moved all in over the top. Scott Seiver called. Kostritsyn raised over the top of Hang's shove to 55,500. Seiver called.

On the second draw, Hang stood pat while Seiver took two and Kostritsyn took one. Seiver checked over to Kostritsyn who bet. Seiver check-raised and Kostritsyn called.

Hang and Seiver stood pat on the last draw and Kostritsyn took one. Seiver then checked again and Kostritsyn bet. Seiver raised and Kostritsyn called once more.

Seiver looked at Tommy Hang and shook his head, delivering bad news. He showed {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for the wheel. Hang was holding {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}. Kostritsyn was forced to turn up his hand as well and he showed {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for the second nuts and that would earn the big pot for Seiver.

"You would've got three bets if you led out on the river," Robert Mizrachi said to Seiver after the hand.

Matusow: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{a-}{10-}{6-} / {x-}
Galfond: {x-}{x-} / {8-}{q-}{2-}{4-} / {x-}
Hui: {x-}{x-} / {a-}{9-} — Folded

Phil Hui completed and Mike Matusow called. Phil Galfond was the bring-in and called as well.

On fourth, Matusow bet with the betting lead and Galfond called. Hui folded.

Matusow lead again on fifth street and Galfond called once more.

"If I lose this one, it's really gonna put me on tilt," Matusow said.

Matusow bet again on sixth and Galfond called. Galfond called one more bet on seventh.

"Number two," Matusow said showing {4-}{2-}{8-}. Galfond mucked and Matusow took down the pot getting four full streets of value.

"Okay, you got me," Matusow said to Galfond joking. "Your H.O.R.S.E. game still sucks."

"I never claimed it was any better," Galfond said smiling.

"I wanted to see him back into a wheel," Brett Richey said.

"If he would've backed into a wheel..." Matsuow started. "I started with two, three, four. If I lost that one it might've been the end of my life."

The table started laughing.

"It would've finally been the pot that ended my life," Matusow said.
