Joseph Couden Eliminated on First Hand Back From Break

Level 17 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante
Joey Couden
Joey Couden

Razz

Sion: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{10-}{5-}{6-} / {x-}
Couden: {x-}{x-} / {2-}{4-}{q-}{8-} / {x-}
Abdalla: {x-}{x-} / {6-}{9-}{6-}{3-} / {x-}

Elior Sion completed. Joseph Couden made it two bets. Jake Abdalla called. Sion made it three bets. Couden called all in for less than the third bet. Abdalla called as well.

On fourth, Abdalla bet and Sion called. On fifth street, Sion took the lead and he bet. Abdalla called.

Sion bet again on sixth street. Abdalla thought for a long time, then folded.

"You have ace deuce right?" Matusow asked. "I would've shit if you don't have ace deuce."

Sion did in fact turn over {A-}{2-} and that would lock up the hand for him as Couden was holding {A-}{8-}. Sion picked up a {3-} on seventh while Couden pulled another {A-} and that would do it. Couden was eliminated bringing the field down to just 23 players.

Benson Doubles Through Shakerchi Before Break

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Gary Benson
Gary Benson

Pot-Limit Omaha

Gary Benson opened from the cutoff with a raise to 28,000. He met resistance in the form of calls from Talal Shakerchi, in the small blind, and Aaron Katz from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, and action checked to Benson, who put out a bet of 40,000. Shakerchi then raised to 105,000. Benson re-potted it. Sharkerchi moved all in, and Benson called.

Shakerchi: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Benson: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Both players had flopped the nut straight, but things got a little interesting with the {3-Clubs} on the turn, giving Shakerchi a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, Benson found a {J-Spades} on the river, giving him a full house. That earned him the double as players headed for break.

"Am I supposed to fold there?" Shakerchi asked.

"Fold? What do you mean fold?" Katz asked. "I'm trying to figure out how to get all the money in there!"

Shakerchi just shook his head and headed for break, as well.

Mizrachi Under 10 Bets

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Michael Mizrachi bet into a couple of opponents when he picked up {2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} on his board, which was the lowest combo, and Matthew Ashton called with {8-Hearts}{7-Spades} while Ian Johns came along with {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Ashton caught an ace on fifth and bet, chasing away Johns, but Mizrachi stuck around and called again on sixth.

Mizrachi: {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Ashton: {x-}{x-}/{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Johns: {x-}{x-}/{q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Hearts} (folded on fifth street)

Ashton bet again on the end and got a call. He showed {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} for aces up and took it down.

Two Razz Hands from Table 24

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Razz

Isaac Haxton bet into Talal Shakerchi on sixth and seventh streets with a board that showed three to a wheel.

Haxton: {q-}{3-}{8-}/{2-}{5-}{a-}{j-}
Shakerchi: {x-}{x-}/{8-}{4-}{7-}{10-}/{x-}

Shakerchi couldn't beat the eight-five shown by Haxton.

The next hand, Paul Volpe completed with a {6-}, Talal Shakerchi called with a {q-}, and Daniel Negreanu raised with a {7-}. Volpe made it three bets, chasing away Shakerchi, and Negreanu called. Volpe picked up paint right away with a {j-}, leaving him check-calling the next two streets as Negreanu caught good.

Negreanu: {x-}{x-}/{7-}{5-}{8-}{q-}
Volpe: {x-}{x-}/{6-}{j-}{3-}{7-}

Volpe caught up on sixth and bet when he picked up the better board, and Negreanu tanked awhile and folded.

Arieh Doubles Through Ashton

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Pot-Limit Omaha

Josh Arieh opened to 40,000 before the flop and was called by Matthew Ashton, on the button, and Ian Johns, from the small blind.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Johns checked to Arieh. Arieh bet 100,000, and Ashton called after thinking about it for a bit.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, and Arieh slowed down with a check. Ashton put in a pot-sized bet, and Arieh snap-called for the rest of his stack.

Arieh showed {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for the nut straight, and Ashton was drawing thin with {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for two pair. Arieh faded on the {K-Spades} river, and that allowed him to get a full double through Ashton.

"Another misclick before the flop," Arieh said after the hand to Michael Mizrachi. "I meant to make it twenty-seven."

Wattel Drops One to Obst

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Mike Wattel bet fourth street and then fifth, as both he and James Obst had queen-high boards, but Obst raised. Both players then checked sixth.

Wattel: {x-}{x-}/{10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}/{x-}
Obst: {x-}{x-}/{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}/{x-}

Obst bet seventh, and Wattel immediately called.

"Aces up," Obst said, tabling {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs} for aces and sixes. Wattel mucked.

David Bach

Stud Hi-Lo

Zinno: {X-}{X-} / {6-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Bach: {X-}{X-} / {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Picking up the action on fifth street, David Bach called a bet from Anthony Zinno before he called all in on sixth street.

Zinno: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}: {6-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Bach: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}: {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Zinno's seventh street was the {3-Spades} to keep him with aces and queens, while Bach caught the {J-Clubs} to make an inferior two pair and was eliminated.
