Kalin Squeezes

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

David Hipperson opened to 1,500, Donnacha O'Dea called next to act, and Mark David called in the cutoff.

With the action on Gennady Kalin on the button, he opted for a three-bet totaling 11,000.

Hipperson went into the tank for close to two minutes before folding, while O'Dea took roughly a minute before mucking.

David opted for a quick fold and showed his {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} as Kalin raked in the pot.

"You're not going to show us?" asked Hipperson.

Kalin looked up, and then continued raking in the pot.

David Margi raised under the gun to 1,600 and both players in the blinds called.

Doug Polk Teaches What it Takes to be the Best

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Doug Polk from day 1 of the Main Event
Doug Polk from day 1 of the Main Event

Doug Polk opened with a raise to 1,300 from early position. He was called by one player in the cutoff.

"Oh, you're in the Phil Hellmuth position over there," Polk remarked about his opponent who was sitting with two fists in front of his face, Hellmuth style.

"I'm learning," the player said.

On the {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Poker bet 1,800 and his opponent folded.

"I'm folding like Hellmuth too," he said.

"You know what's great about Phil Hellmuth?" Doug Polk asked as he raked in the little pot. "In his heart he really truly believes that he is the best. So whenever something goes wrong, it's never his fault, it's always because his opponent made a mistake."

"You know when I was first starting out and my friends figured out that I was a profession poker player, the first thing they asked me was, 'So have you played with Phil Hellmuth then?'" Sam Grafton said, who was also sitting at the table. "And I told them no. So they were like, 'But you've played with Ivey right?' And I said no. 'So you're like dust then?'"

The table had a laugh and play continued on with banter flying back and forth between Polk and Grafton.

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

On a board reading {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} with roughly 10,000 in the middle, Joseph Beasy bet out 4,000 only to have Benjamin Scholl raise to 13,000.

"Can you check his cards?" asked Beasy in the direction of our PokerNews reporter.

The PokerNews reporter nodded negatively and Beasy mucked.

Korochenskiy Runs Into Aces

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

With already 22,000 in the middle and the flop reading {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, Richard Barabino bet 20,000 out of the big blind and Anatoly Korochenskiy moved all in for 54,800. The player in the small blind reluctantly folded and Barabino quickly called.

Anatoly Korochenskiy: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Richard Barabino: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

The {5-Hearts} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river failed to improve Korochenskiy and he was sent to the rail.

Lykov Gets Value from De Laat

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Bas De Laat raised from early position and picked up one caller in Maxim Lykov on the button. De Laat bet the {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop and the {A-Clubs} turn, the latter for 7,800, and Lykov called both times. After the {J-Hearts} fell on the river, De Laat slowed down and checked. Lykov made it 14,200 to go and De Laat called before quickly mucking to Lykov's {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a set of eights.

Andy Frankenberger Avoids a Trap

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Andy Frankenberger raised to 1,500 from the cutoff and got a call from the big blind. The flop came {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} and the big blind checked. Frankenberger continued for 1,500 and his opponent called. They both checked the {K-Diamonds} turn and the {7-Spades} river and his opponent tabled {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for queens full of tens on the flop.

"So you're saying my turn bet wouldn't have gotten through?" Frankenberg asked. His opponent just smiled.

Frankenberger added, "I'm glad you checked the river. I was going to have to call a bet."
