Hellmuth Falling Fast

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Phil Hellmuth limped from early position (the third-consecutive hand in which he was seen limping in), the player in the cutoff raised to 4,200, and Hellmuth called.

They checked to the turn of a {J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} board, where Hellmuth bet 4,000. His opponent called. The {8-Hearts} river completed the board, Hellmuth bet 5,300, and his opponent called.

Hellmuth showed {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for sevens and deuces, but his opponent tabled {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for eights and deuces to win the pot.

"That seems fair," muttered Hellmuth.

Baldwin Busted

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

Eric Baldwin moved all in for his remaining chips, and Arman Sogomonian called in the cutoff.

Eric Baldwin: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Arman Sogomonian: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} — no help for Baldwin as Sogomonian hit an ace on the flop, and the former has been eliminated.

"Well... guess it will have to be next year," Baldwin said when he walked away, still managing to smile after having busted the tournament.

Hughes and Hakim Lose Small Pots; Loeser and Hall in Trouble

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a raise to 2,700, Galen Hall called, and so did Patrick Braga in the big blind.

The {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop was checked around, and the same applied for the {2-Clubs} turn. Braga bet the {9-Spades} river and won the pot.

Hall claimed back some chips soon after but remains below the starting stack, while Manig Loeser, on the same table, has even fewer chips.

Ryan Hughes bet a three-way {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop for 5,000 from the button and picked up a single caller in David Goodkin, while the hijack folded. The {K-Hearts} turn and {7-Diamonds} river were checked through, and Goodkin showed {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} to win the pot.

One table over, Jeff Hakim made it 2,700 to go, and the big blind called. The {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop brought a check by the big blind, a bet of 3,600 by Hakim, and a call. After the {8-Spades} turn paired the board, the big blind bet 6,500, and Hakim quickly folded.

MacPhee Flops an Ace

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 2,700, and action folded to Kevin MacPhee in the big blind. MacPhee called.

They both checked on the {5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Spades} flop. The {K-Spades} came on the turn, MacPhee bet 3,400, and his opponent called. The {4-Diamonds} on the river completed the board, on which they both checked.

MacPhee showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a pair of aces, which were good enough for his opponent to muck his cards.

Mike Leah Gets Value on the River

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

A player in middle position raised to 2,800, and Mike Leah called in the cutoff. The remaining players folded, and they were heads-up.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and the first player checked. Leah bet 3,000, and his opponent called. The turn was the {10-Clubs}, and both players checked. On the {5-Hearts} river, the first player checked again, and Leah tossed out a bet of 10,000. His opponent thought for over a minute and then called.

Leah tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top pair, top kicker, and that was good enough to win him the pot.

Matuson Finds a Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Stacy Matuson limped from early position, and Daniel Tang raised from the cutoff raised, making it 4,500 to play. Matuson called, and that brought them to a flop.

On the {4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop, Matuson quickly moved all in for 21,000. Daniel Tang quickly called, bringing them to a show down.

Matuson: {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Tang: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The {4-Clubs} came on the turn, but Matuson found good fortune with the {2-Hearts} on the river, giving her a flush and allowing her to double up through Tang.

Lucky Flop Sees Wade Eliminate One

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The player under the gun raised to 3,000, and Tristan Wade re-raised to 10,500 on the button. After a couple of minutes of thought, the opener called.

The flop was {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Wade bet 6,000 and got a call. On the {4-Spades} turn, Wade shoved all in when his opponent checked. It was 30,000 or so effective, and Wade's opponent slid in a fast call.

Wade: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Wade had flopped a two-outer and turned a boat, and he faded the two remaining queens on the {3-Clubs} river.
