"He called me with ace-high, and now he's getting it in for 150 blinds. What the f*** is going on here?" asked Phil Hellmuth to his table.

The flop read {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, and Hellmuth had 30,000 committed post-flop from the button. Alan Cutler was all in with a covering stack from the big blind, and Hellmuth was in the tank for his remaining 67,000 or so. After a little while, he folded.

"Want to see what I have?" asked Cutler.

"Sure," replied Hellmuth.

Cutler showed {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and Hellmuth jumped out of his chair.

"Oh my f***ing god! Are you f***ing kidding me? This is the f***ing Main Event, bro," said an enraged Hellmuth, pounding his fist against a nearby wall.

"Its a win-win for me," said Cutler. "Either you bust me and I have a great story, or I bust you and have a great story."

The board read {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and Harrison Gimbel checked to Artur Rudziankov. Rudziankov bet 12,700, and Gimbel raised to 40,000. Rudziankov took about 40 seconds and then called, showing {k-}{j-} for a straight, which beat the {q-}{9-} of Gimbel.

Bounahra Chips Up

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Bob Bounahra was involved in a four-way pot on an {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop with 2,700 apiece invested, and the action was checked around. On the {3-Hearts} turn, Bounahra bet 3,900 from the small blind, and Peter Zolnai was the only caller. Bounahra then checked the {5-Spades} river, and Zolnai bet 11,000, which the former November Niner called.

Zolnai briefly showed his cards but mucked to the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} of Bounahra.

That table also features Timothy Cavallin, while Joe Cada and Tamer Kamel have chipped up slightly in the Orange section.

Treccarichi Gets a Fold

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The board read {5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and the player in the small blind had led out for 24,400. Walter Treccarichi raised to 44,000, and his opponent needed some time to think. After some careful consideration, his opponent folded but showed {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the nut flush. Treccarichi showed {6-}{6-} for a full house, sixes over fives.

Esfandiari Runs Into Aces and Hits the Rail

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Farah Galfond opened with a raise to 3,000 from early position, and Antonio Esfandiari called. Action folded around to the cutoff, where Kevin Schulz re-raised to 12,000. Galfond called, and Esfandiari called, as well.

On the {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, Galfond and Esfandiari checked over to Schulz, who bet 15,000. Galfond folded, but Esfandiari called. The turn was the {2-Diamonds}, and Esfandiari checked again. Schulz bet 35,000. Esfandiari thought for a bit, then moved all in for around 100,000. Schulz called instantly.

Esfandiari: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Schulz: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

Esfandiari was way behind and needed a queen or a jack to stay alive, but the river was the {K-Clubs}, and that did it for him. He hit the rail, while Schulz brought in his stack, bringing him to just under 400,000 chips.

De Meulder Hits the Ace

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Matthias de Meulder
Matthias de Meulder

A player in middle position opened for 3,000, and Ryan Olisar called on the button. Matthias De Meulder peeked at his holdings and then put in a re-raise to 12,000 in the big blind.

"All in," the opener instantly announced.

It looked to be 29,500, and Olisar folded, but De Meulder called.

De Meulder: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {6-Clubs}{a-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop gave De Meulder a hammerlock on the hand, and the {5-Clubs} turn and {j-Hearts} river were the last two cards the middle-position player would see in this event.

Leo Margets Short

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

It has been a tough Day 2 so far for Leo Margets. She has been in there battling but seemingly unable to make good hands at the right time, and her stack is headed in the wrong direction.

Margets opened to 2,600 from early position and picked up a middle position caller, as well as calls from the two players in the blinds.

The flop waas {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}. The blinds checked to Margets, who continued for 4,800. That got two folds, but the player in the big blind raised to 17,600, and Margets threw in her hand.

That reduced Margets’ stack to just above 10 big blinds.
