O'Grady Eliminates Ajez in Massive Controversial Pot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Michael O'Grady - Najeem Ajez
Michael O'Grady - Najeem Ajez

Several members of the floor staff were gathered around Michael O'Grady and Najeem Ajez's table with an over 200,000 chip pot in the middle of the table and were discussing a ruling.

According to one of the staff members, O'Grady had moved all in on a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} after a bet and a raise from Ajez. Ajez was in the tank and at one point said to O'Grady, "I'll show you one if you show me one." O'Grady agreed and Ajez showed the {J-Clubs}. O'Grady showed his {6-Spades}, assuming that Ajez's hand was dead.

Immediately after this, Ajez said, "I call." And as his hand was not dead yet, it didn't hit the muck, his action stood. Ajez turned up his other card, the {8-Hearts} revealing a flopped straight with {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. O'Grady was still live with outs to a flush or a straight holding {K-Spades}{6-Spades} so the floor instructed the rest of the hand to be dealt out.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} which was safe for Ajez, but the river was the {7-Spades}. With that, O'Grady was awarded the pot, making a flush. Ajez was eliminated from the tournament with a shorter stack. After the hand, players at the table continued to discuss the ruling and whether or not Ajez was attempting an angle against O'Grady.

In the end, O'Grady ended up with a massive stack of nearly 250,000 while Ajez hit the rail.

Smallest Flush Pays Off For Rochford

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Michael O'Grady opened from under the gun with a raise to 2,000. Paul Rochford called a few seats over as did Tim Marsters on the button. The big blind called as well so it was four ways to a flop.

The flop was {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and all four players checked to see the {8-Clubs} on the turn. There, all four players checked again and the {Q-Clubs} came on the river, putting four clubs on the board. Action checked to the button on the river and there, Marsters put out a bet of 3,000. The big blind folded as did O'Grady, but Rochford didn't release. He called.

Marsters showed down his {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for king-high, but Rochford had him beat with {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the smallest flush, so he would take down the pot to approach 100,000 chips.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Salloum moved all in for his remaining 6,400. Ghezelbash snap-called.

Salloum then casually tabled his {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a full house and took down the pot after Ghezelbash mucked his hand.

Varma Punishes Wakeman With a Four Bet

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action folded around to middle position where Hari Varma opened with a raise to 1,800. Everyone folded to the small blind where the player there called. Matt Wakeman was in the big blind and he thought for a bit before putting in a large three-bet, making it 7,800. Action was back on Varma and he tanked for quite some time before four-betting, making it 20,500. The small blind quickly released then Wakeman quickly followed suit so Varma was able to take down the decent sized pot without seeing a flop.

Varma now sits with around 76,000 while Wakeman was left with right around 25,000 after the hand.

A Small One for Rubie

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The player in middle position raised to 1,800 and was called by Brendon Rubie in the big blind.
