Jani Doubles with Ducks

Jani Sointula
Jani Sointula
Jani Sointula, he of the lengthy flaxen hair, just doubled up. All the money went in on the {6-Clubs} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} flop, Sointula holding {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and his opponent {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. No suck-outs on the {4-Diamonds} turn or the {8-Diamonds} river and Sointula doubled to 38,000.

Channing Doubles Through Levi

James Keys raised to 800 under the gun and rather unexpectedly received four callers, among them Nicolas Levi to his immediate left and Neil Channing in the big blind to his right. All five saw a flop.

Flop: {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}

Channing, down to just 6,000, open-shoved. Keys decided it wasn't worth it and passed, but Nicolas Levi now went over the top of him for 11,000. There were some noises around the table, of the variety made by plumbers who see their kids' college funds coming out of your leaky pipes, and everyone else ducked out of the way.

Levi: {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Channing: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

Turn: {5-Clubs}

River: {Q-Clubs}

Channing more than doubles up to around 16,000; meanwhile Levi is crippled down to just 5,000.

Aggressionfish

The Devilfish
The Devilfish
Devilfish has been abusing his position as table chip leader, repeatedly reraising from the blinds to preflop raises in position. So far I haven't seen anyone take him on, but if he continues the Devilish aggression, it is just a matter of time before fireworks erupt in a shower of knuckleduster shards on table seven.

Near Death Flop

Theo dabbled with death
Theo dabbled with death
Nenad Medic raised from middle position to 800 and only found a caller in the shape of recent bracelet winner, Theo Jorgensen, in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} causing tablemate, Nik Persaud to face the other way. No such behavior from Medic who stayed focused as he bet 1,200 and a just-as-interested Jorgensen made the call.

The turn saw Jorgensen check-raise Medic's 2,600 bet to 5,200 which was around half his stack. Medic made the call, though, only leaving himself 7,000 behind.

When the river came {9-Spades}, Jorgensen gave up and check-folded to Medic's all-in. Medic is back above his starting stack whereas Jorgensen is short now.

Awww nutts....
Awww nutts....
Per Ummer opened for 800, Daniel Nutt reraised to 4,800 and David Harrison moved all in for about 11,000. Ummer gave up his hand and Nutt called.

Harrison {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

Nutt {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Negreanu Takes the Chip Lead

Your new chip leader
Your new chip leader
Daniel Negreanu raised to 800 and Lars Hougaard made the call from the big blind. The flop was {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Hougaard checked, Negreanu bet 800 and Hougaard raised to 3,200.

"Hmmm. I have to think about the best way to approach this," said Negreanu before sliding out a stack of 50,000 chips, enough to set Hougaard all in.

Hougaard mumbled something we couldn't quite hear, but evidently Negreanu could.

"You have a pair AND a straight draw? OK, so you hit your miracle flop and have to fold?" he said with a chuckle.

"Seems like it," said Hougaard before mucking his cards.

"I have a set. You're a nice kid, so I'll show," said Negreanu, flashing {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} .

"I was in the same situation at the WSOP this summer. The flop was 6-8-9. I had two sixes and the other guy had two nines," he quipped as he raked in the pot.

Negreanu now on 95,000 and the clear chip leader.

De Wolfe Didn't Eat All His Dinner

Roland de Wolfe made a raise from the cut off and the small blind made the call before the flop came {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}.

Both players checked so we got to see the {6-Diamonds} turn. This time the small blind player led out for 1,550 and de Wolfe called. The river {K-Diamonds} saw the small blind check to face a 2,000 bet from de Wolfe. He folded {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} face-up and de Wolfe showed {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}.

The small blind player then said to de Wolfe, "If you played that differently you could of got my whole stack."

De Wolfe still happy on 47,000.

Channing Opens Doors for Keys

Just a few hands after moving to Table Devilfish, Neil Channing has doubled up James Keys.

There were a few limpers preflop including Channing on the button. Keys made it 1,300 from the small blind, and it folded around to Channing. He eyed up Keys' remaining chips, saw that they totaled only 5,000 or so, and called. The flop was dealt, Keys open-shoved, and Channing called.

Keys: {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}
Channing: {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}

Board: {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts}

Channing: "Yeeees, very nice hand, well played."
Keys: "Back up to half a stack now."
