Ammunition For Mercier

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Jussi Ryynanen raised to 8,000 and both blinds defended. Michael Mizrachi was in the small blind and he checked the {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. Jason Mercier, who was in the big blind, checked as well.

Ryynanen put out a 17,000-chip continuation bet and Mizrachi decided to call. Mercier had 64,300 chips left and he moved all in. Ryynanen announced a pot-size raise putting massive pressure on Mizrachi.

After about half a minute Mizrachi got up from his chair and leaned against the back wall. He could not believe what had just happened, and after about two minutes he open-folded his {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Showdown:
Jason Mercier: {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Jussi Ryynanen: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The turn brought out the {3-Hearts}, and the river the {2-Clubs} giving Mercier the double up with just two pair. Mizrachi would've won the hand, but he did not feel like risking his big stack.

Vanessa Selbst Eliminated in 12th Place (€9,929)

Vanessa Selbst - 12th Place
Vanessa Selbst - 12th Place

With 67,200 in the pot, Michael Mizrachi, Vanessa Selbst, and Jussi Ryynanen saw a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

Mizrachi opened the action by announcing a pot-sized bet and Selbst shipped the rest of her stack which was about 40,000. Ryynanen thought for a brief moment before letting go of his cards.

Selbst: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Mizrachi: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Selbst was in need of some help and did not find it when the {3-Clubs} fell on fourth street and the {J-Clubs} on fifth. Selbst will collect €9.929 for her efforts.

Big Double Up For Mattila

On the flop the board read {10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts} in a pot between Ville Mattila en Bruno Fitoussi. Mattila had checked from the blinds after which Fitoussi put in a 10,000-chip bet. The Finnish pro opted to check-raise to 47,400 putting a lot of pressure on the former $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. champion.

Fitoussi took some time but eventually he made the call. The turn was the {K-Spades}, and now Mattila went into the tank. After a solid minute he decided to move all in, and Fitoussi did not seem happy. Minutes went by, and all of a sudden he made the call.

Showdown:
Ville Mattila: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Bruno Fitoussi: {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Mattila found his double up.

Selbst Scores Double Through Mizrachi

Roger Hairabedian opened with a limp from under the gun and it folded around to Michael Mizrachi who made it 6,000 from the button. Jason Mercier called from the small blind and Vanessa Selbst followed from the big. Hairabedian called as well and the four saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

Mercier checked and Selbst announced that she was all in for her last 22,800. Hairabedian folded and Mizrachi called. Mercier got out of the way and the hands were shown:

Selbst: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Mizrachi: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Selbst's set of deuces was ahead and stayed that way through the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {5-Diamonds} river.

Selbst now has a bit more breathing room with about 70,000 in chips.

Dinner Break

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

The final 12 players are now on a 75-minute dinner break. They are all guaranteed a payday of at least €9,929 so we're certain some of those winnings will be spent on a nice meal to fill their stomachs before returning to the felt.

When the players return we will play until a final table of 9 is set (or four more levels, barring the unlikely event that three eliminations do not occur in four hours).

Sam Chartier is Our Bubble Boy

Samuel Chartier
Samuel Chartier

Canadian pro Sam Chartier was short for quite some time, but eventually he could not hold on. Last year he finished in eight place in this event but didn't get the back-to-back cash.

Roger Hairabedian raised under the gun to 4,000 after which the action was folded to Chartier who moved all in from the button for 9,000 chips. Jason Mercier called from the big blind and Hairabedian called as well.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Mercier bet pot, 29,000, right away. Hairabedian tanked for quite some time, but eventually he let it go.

Showdown:
Jason Mercier: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Sam Chartier: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The turn sealed it when the {3-Diamonds} hit, and the river was the {5-Clubs}. We are now in the money, and on a 75-minute dinner break.

Dramatic Moment Ends With a Fold

With the flop reading {6-Hearts}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs}, three players including Michael Mizrachi, Michel Abecassis, and Jussi Ryynanen tapped the table to check.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and Ryynanen checked again. Abecassis fired 7,000 and Mizrachi wasted no time plopping a stack of 25,000 into the middle. Ryynanen folded and Abecassis announced that he was all in.

Mizrachi thought for a moment before folding and showing the {2-Spades}, telling the table that he had a set of deuces. Abecassis showed the {J-Spades} from his hand and then dragged in the pot.
