€50,000 Majestic High Roller
Day 1 Started
Today at 4:00 PM local time marks the start of the Majestic High Roller here at the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe. With a big buy-in of €50,000, this event is sure to attract some of the biggest names in the game, along with some players with very deep pockets.
It's unsure of what to expect from this event, as it's brand new to the WSOP Europe schedule. It's also a non-bracelet event. We can tell you that there are plenty of Asian businessmen in town who plan on playing, which should draw out a few more pros. Some of those pros, like Eugene Katchalov, Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier made Day 3 of the Main Event, though, so it's unsure as to whether not not they'll be playing.
The event is planned for three days, but the schedule could be altered depending on the size of the field, so we'll keep you posted as to any changes. Stay tuned for the kick off of the event.
The start of the tournament has been delayed a bit, but things will be kicking off shortly. Right now, 16 players are signed up, and the players have been discussing that a few more are waiting to register until the field grows or at a later time.
Once the cards are in the air, we'll have the names and seat assignments for the event posted. Players will start with 150,000 in tournament chips and registration will be open until Level 9. That's also the end of the rebuy period.
The players are currently being served champagne and brownies while they wait for things to kick off.
