Scott Stewart Won't Let go

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Scott Stewart

Scott Stewart has made his way to the King's Casino all the way from his hometown in California. Stewart made a deep run in this year's WSOP Main Event, finishing in 13th place for $535,000. He is off to a hot start in his first appearance at WSOP Europe thus far.

On a flop reading {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Stewart was facing a bet of 2,300 from the player in early position. Stewart made the call and the {5-Diamonds} hit the turn. The player in early position fired another bet of 5,500 and Stewart continued to call. The {a-Clubs} landed on the river and both players checked. Stewart's opponent turned over {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} but Stewart flopped top pair with {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, earning himself the pot.

Kabrhel & Cantu Enter, Racener & Hallaert Exit

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante
John Racener
John Racener

The action has picked up since the last break and players have been exiting as fast as they have been entering. Martin Kabrhel and Brandon Cantu have both taken their seat, but Cantu has already lost half of his stack.

John Racener and Kenny Hallaert will have to look towards the next event if they want to earn any Player of the Year points on their hunt to catch Chris Ferguson for the title. They have both busted their third bullet of the event since play resumed.

Zisimopoulos Busts Varnica

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Georgios Zisimopoulos
Georgios Zisimopoulos

A raise by Alex Foxen saw Georgios Zisimopoulos on the button three-bet to 4,100. Ante Varnica four-bet all in from the big blind and Foxen folded, Zisimopoulos called.

Ante Varnica: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Georgios Zisimopoulos: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The {J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop left Varnica in desperate shape, and he was drawing dead by the time the {3-Spades} fell on the turn. A meaningless {3-Clubs} river even improved Zisimopoulos to a full house and he moved past Foxen in the counts.

Cenk Oguz and Dzmitry Rabotkin called a raise and then also the shove of a short stack for 5,125 out of the big blind. Oguz and Rabotkin checked down a king-high board and the big blind more than tripled up with {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for trips kings, Rabotkin flashed {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Oguz had {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

Michaelis With a One-Two Punch

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

There was a raise to 1,400 from early position and Paul Michaelis called directly to his left. The hijack moved all-in for around 8,000 and the initial raiser also moved all-in over the top. Michaelis instantly called and the table erupted in "Oohs and aahs".

Michaelis was sitting in the dark with {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and was up against the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} from one opponent and the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} from the other. The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Michaelis scored a double knockout to climb over 50,000 chips.

Moscati and Arnold in the Lead

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

One third of the field has already been eliminated prior to the dinner break and the two current chip leaders appear to be Vincent Moscati and Dominik Arnold. Ivan Baric was down to 2,000 early on and has chipped up to 35,000 since, while Kristen Bicknell will have to hope for a similar comeback after being cut down to fewer than eight big blinds now.

Crilly Bows Out

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Neil Crilly was spotted on his way out of the tournament early, and unfortunately he was not trying to beat the stampede that'd head to the free buffet shortly. Crilly confirmed that he had been eliminated after defending his big blind to an open raise by Serge Danis and a call by Erik Cajelais in the small blind.

Crilly shoved a king-high flop with {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for the nut flush draw and Danis called with pocket sevens for middle set. The {4-Spades} completed a flush for Crilly, but it also paired the board to eliminate the American.

Baer Doubles Castelluccio

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

On the three-way flop of {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Donovan Baer checked from middle position and Yehuda Cohen bet 1,500 on the button. Sergio Castelluccio check-raised all in for 11,925 from the big blind and Baer reshoved for less than double of that. Cohen took a long time to make up his mind and the clock was called on him, he eventually mucked {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} face up.

Sergio Castelluccio: {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Donovan Baer: {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The {2-Hearts} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river changed nothing whatsoever and Castelluccio more than doubled.
