Stancu Triples Up, Pohnke Eliminated

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Thomas Pohnke opened to 22,000 from the hijack and Tu Tuan To called from the button. Vasile Stancu was in the big blind and pushed all-in for 58,000. Pohnke called and To re-shipped all-in. Pohnke stuck in the rest of his chips and the three hands were tabled.

Vasile Stancu: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Tu Tuan To: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Thomas Pohnke: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

The flop came {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} giving each player a little bit of something. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Pohnke made the nut flush. The {3-Spades} on the river paired the board and both Stancu and To made a full house. Stancu held the larger full house to triple up and Pohnke was eliminated.

He will be closely followed by Georgios Zisimopoulos who finished atop on Day 1B with 347,000. Coming off a third-place finish in the first event of the series, Sergio Fernandez also has a healthy stack of 313,000 heading into the final day.

Some other familiar faces to keep an eye on include two-time bracelet winner, Kristen Bicknell who has already secured her first-ever cash in a PLO tournament.
