A total of 155 players entered on Day 1a of the 2017 WSOPE COLOSSUS, and just 11 players will be advancing after a truncated opening flight. The top 24 were in the money and the remaining players are led by Stanislaw Miadzel (273,000), one of just two players over the 200,000 mark.

The other player is Fahredin Mustafov (206,000), who is no stranger to bagging big stacks going into Day 2. The Bulgarian was the overall chip leader heading into Day 2 of the €550 Pot-Limit Omaha, but will be looking for a better start to Day 2 of this tournament, having been one of the first to bust when the Omaha resumed.

The big names advancing from Day 1a are former November Niner Kenny Hallaert (190,000) and bracelet winner Mike Leah (166,500).

Here is a full list of those advancing:

There was a glut of WSOP talent at the tables early on Day 1A of the COLOSSUS, with former bracelet winners Kristen Bicknell, Martin Kabrhel and Barny Boatman at the tables. 2015 WSOPE Main Event winner Kevin MacPhee also made an appearance, as well as 2017 WSOPE bracelet winner Andreas Klatt.

However, none of the above-mentioned would make it far into the day.

With just 24 players making the cash it didn't take long for the field to whittle itself down, and here are the players who made the money on Day 1a:

Sklenicka Eliminated

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

In the last hand before the break, Michael Sklenicka limped in the cutoff and Salvatore Camarda moved all in for 100,000 from the small blind. Sklenicka called with Aces against the Deuces of Camarda. There was a deuce on the turn and that sent Camarda to the rail.

That means just 13 players are coming back from the break, with only the final 11 bagging up for Day 2.

Ngoc Minh Hoang moved all in from under the gun. It folded to Fahredin Mustafov in the big blind who called.

Ngoc Minh Hoang: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Fahredin Mustafov: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The flop came Queen high giving Mustafov the lead {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {4-Hearts} meaning Hoang was eliminated.

Standing Up Works For Chirila

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Kenny Hallaert: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Radu Florentin Chirila: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

There was a pair on the flop for Kenny Hallaert in an all-in pot against Radu Florentin Chirila as it came {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Chirila got to his feet. The river however was the {j-Clubs} and Chirila quickly sat back down and raked in a small but meaningful double up.

Ankala and Dedusha Eliminated; Sklenicka Chops to Stay Alive

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Artan Dedusha
Artan Dedusha

After Tommy Ankala's elimination, it was all-in pre-flop between Artan Dedusha and Zoltan Bartus.

Zoltan Bartus: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Artan Dedusha: {a-}{j-}

Dedusha looked in good shape after the {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} flop, but the {4-Clubs} turn and 5c] river gave Bartus a flush and sent Dedusha to the rail.

Meanwhile, at the other table, Michael Sklenicka was all in against Kenny Hallaert.

Michael Sklenicka: {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Kenny Hallaert: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} giving a full house to both players, but Hallaert failed to realise that, waggling his {a-Hearts} for the dealer before realising it was a split pot.

Hallaert, a part-time tournament director, realised his mistake and released his cards and apologised to the table.
