The big names were out in force early on, with the likes of Eli Elezra, Roland Israelashvili, Jeff Lisandro, Ryan Hughes, Andreas Klatt, and Anthony Zinno all in attendance.

Two-time WSOPE 2017 final tablist Georgios Koliofotis was the one setting the pace early on, racing into a chip leader, but it was POY contender Ryan Hughes who matched him all the way.

Phil Hellmuth, Felipe Ramos and Mike Leah all joined the field shortly before the dinner break, when registration closed and the final field of 92 was confirmed.

Just under 50 players returned from dinner, and a steady stream of players headed to the exit.

Allen Kessler, fresh from his second place finish at this year's WSOPE, was the beneficiary of triple-ups on three separate occasions as he stuck around in the tournament, while it was Dario Alioto who eliminated two players to soar to the top of the leaderboards with a stack of just over 500,000.

Alioto would stick around at the top of the counts over the course of the final few levels, to lead the final 18 into Day 2.

Two-Tabling Bojang Doubles Up

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Ismael Bojang
Ismael Bojang

Ismael Bojang has gamely been two-tabling the COLOSSUS's final flight and the Omaha Hi-Lo and his persistence has finally paid off.

Bojang got it in against chip leader Dario Alioto holding {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs} against the Italian's {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} giving BOjang a wheel, good enough for the hi and the low.

"That's me?" said Bojang, and once he had ascertained that he was indeed going to double up, he left the table and dashed back over to his COLOSSUS table.

Eldert Soer: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}
Aaron Duczak: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Kessler Triples Up

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Allen Kessler

Ljubo Lojoc raised to 14,000 and Viatcheslav Ortynskiy called. Allen Kessler moved all in for 24,000 in the small blind. Lojoc then four-bet all in and Ortynskiy called putting two players at risk.

Allen Kessler: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Viatcheslav Ortynskiy: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Ljubo Lojoc: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}, with Kessler calling for a King. The turn was the {9-Hearts} but the river was the {k-Clubs} meaning for the third time in this tournament Kessler triple dup, with Lojoc taking down the small side pot to be left with ten big blinds.

"He might have missed the last one," said tablemate Dario Alioto, "But this is his event!"
