Petrangelo Drops a Big One

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Nick Petrangelo was short a bit ago but worked up to about 85,000 before dropping a sizable pot. He opened in middle position to 1,000 and got three-bet to 2,700 by a player on the button. Petrangelo came back with 11,700 and his opponent peeled to see an {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop. Petrangelo bet 7,500 and received a quick call. Petrangelo checked the {9-Clubs} turn and his opponent bet 10,700. Petrangelo counted out his own stack but folded.

The player on the button lifted up his cards and appeared ready to show them but mucked. Petrangelo asked his opponent's neighbor what they were, and it sounded like he reported a {5-}{2-}.

O'Kearney Induces a Bluff

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Dara O'Kearney was in the big blind and put in a small bet of just 1,500 into a pot that looked to contain over 6,000 with {6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} on the board. His opponent in late position tossed in 6,000 and O'Kearney quickly called. The raiser showed {q-}{j-} and O'Kearney took it with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for aces full.

Loosli Busts Ferguson

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante
Chris Ferguson, pictured in an earlier event.
Chris Ferguson, pictured in an earlier event.

Chris Ferguson had just over 12,000, about half of the pot, on a completed board of {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Ferguson thought about a minute and then moved all in from the blinds. Sylvain Loosli casually tossed in a snap-call and his {10-}{10-} had Ferguson's {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} in brutal shape from the flop on.

Great First Hand

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Hans Olymp may have lucked into more than a double up on his first hand of the WSOPE Main Event.

The preflop action was described by Allen Kessler. A player in middle position opened to 5,250 by accident. He said he meant to make it 1,250 but tossed out a 5,000 instead of a 1,000. That sparked a series of calls. Amazingly three players called. Olymp was the first a few spots behind the opener. Then the players on the button and in the small blind called.

Petr Subik was in the big blind and he raised to 17,000. Olymp was the lone caller.

The flop came queen high rainbow and Subik check-called a shove from Olymp for just about 33,000. Subik had pocket jacks and Olymp had ace-queen. He stayed ahead to win the pot and more than double his stack on the first hand of his WSOPE Main Event.
